August 17, 200818 yr In his first year with the Giants in 1993... Dusty pitched John Burkett 231 innings. Burkett was hurt the next year and never won more than 14 games after 1993. Dusty pitched Bill Swift 232 inning that same year. He was hurt the next year and didn't top 110 innings in any of the following four years. In his first year in Chicago... Kerry Wood pitched 211 innings. He was hurt the next year and has pitched 298 innings in the five seasons since. Mark Prior pitched 211 innings. Prior was hurt the next year and his chronicles are well known Matt Clement pitched 201 innings. Has not matched that total since and had arm issues the following year. In his first year in Cincinnati.... Cueto and Volquez are on pace for 198 innings. Harang will see a streak of three consecutive 200 inning seasons end and we all know how he's been since pitching in relief. Do the Reds have anyone at the AA and AAA level to replace Volquez, Harang, and Cueto in the rotation next year if Dusty returns?
August 17, 200818 yr I am glad to see some of the same opinions. Dusty has ruined Aaron Harrang and now since he is back and clearly shouldn't be Dusty leaves him in to get hammered when he has nothing. I guess that he is wanting to complete the job and destroy the arm of what was once one of the best pitchers in the N.L..:irked: (Burkett, Prior, Woods.. that ring a bell? ) There imo is NO reason for Harrang to be pitching, he should have been shut down for the year when he came back and clearly was still hurting. The season was basically over by then and he should have been put down for the rest of the season to rehab and come back strong next spring. Right now this entire Reds organization is pathetic. One of if not the worst managed and ran teams in baseball. I have been a Reds for over 40 years and will remain a Reds fan but am just sick of this team saying the same things and getting the same results....."the little red wagon" is alive and well in Cincy, an absolute embarrassment to the Reds tradition and the Reds fans.

Maybe with a girls softball team somehwere to ruin their pitching.

Brandon Webb who is 18-4 has pirtched 177 innings, and on pace for well over 200. Cliff Lee who is 17-2 is also on pace to pitch over 200 innings, so not buying this arguement.

August 17, 200818 yr It's baseball, find a team where pitchers don't get hurt. You can't, it's the nature of the beast. EVERY team has injuries. No matter who the coach is.

Look at Prior and how he would pinch his shoulders together before delivery. Wood, yes ... Prior, no. Prior had no health issues prior to 2004. Even with Wood's injury history, Baker left him in to throw 120 pitches in 13 starts in 2003 ... one was 130 and another was 141. And Wood threw 120 in five of his last six starts in the regular season. That was inexcusable. Prior was over 120 eight times, and his late-season use was ridiculous. In his six September starts, his pitch counts were 131, 121, 109, 124, 131 and 133. That doesn't even factor in the extra innings they threw in the postseason.

Just like it shouldn't have to do with what color shade of glasses you wear.
