August 17, 200818 yr And the Madden curse is real, and Babe Ruth is the reason the Red Sox went so long without a Championship, could go on, but it's pointless. When you deal with theories it is. But when it's proven that Baker controls this pitch count of these guys, it's fact. Tell Dusty at dinner tonight I said hello.

August 17, 200818 yr ^ Next year will show the real story.I agree. It told the story in SF and in Chicago in year two. We'll see how Cueto, Volquez, and Harang rebound.

I could sit here say Cubs fans thought the same thing of Wood and Prior after 2003 but we'll see how they do next year after pitching a career high in innings. Volquez looked tough today.
August 17, 200818 yr I agree. It told the story in SF and in Chicago in year two. We'll see how Cueto, Volquez, and Harang rebound.Dusty has done a better job of controlling the pitch counts of Cueto and Volquez. Cueto has one start with 119 and another with 120. Volquez had one outing in which he threw 118. Of course, the Reds aren't in a pennant race, either, which means he's less likely to push the envelope with a key starter. Then again, he took a big chance with Harang, and it backfired ...
August 17, 200818 yr Dickerson is 26 and just now getting his first taste of the major leagues, and his minor league numbers don't give any indication that he is anything better than a fourth or fifth outfielder. He's playing for a spot on the team next year, but that's about it.

He's playing for a spot on the team next year, but that's about it. He's playing for the starting CF job next year unless the Reds go out and get somebody to play that position in the off season. The Reds have a lot of holes to fill, and I feel they will spend the majority of their money for a right handed bat with some pop to play LF, and a catcher, and a short stop.

Oh, and the powerball numbers this week would be great.

Would it feel better to hear the same thing from a Reds fan? Because he's right. If Dickerson were going to be an everyday starter, don't you think he'd have been called up a few years ago?

I hear Manny Ramirez may be available. :sssh:

If Dickerson were going to be an everyday starter, don't you think he'd have been called up a few years ago? Or the guy finally got his game at the plate together a little late. It's not like this franchise has been hurting for bodies in the OF until now. Plus his bloodline doesn't suck...
