August 18, 200818 yr How many current Reds roster players, could be starters on any other MLB team? We would probably all agree, less than 3 position players and 3-4 in the pitching staff. That equates to, basically a team in transition and hopefully capable of spending money this winter, in areas of need.
August 18, 200818 yr Get back to discussing the Reds and take the personal comments to the PM's. Only warning.
August 18, 200818 yr It's not like Dickerson had an easy path to the Majors. If he is the 4th OF on this team next year I will be happy.
August 18, 200818 yr I don't need anyone to tell me odds, when it comes to this. You asked the this question: If Dickerson were going to be an everyday starter, don't you think he'd have been called up a few years ago? I gave a possible reason, and legit one. You are certainly in no postion to predict his future. It's not like Dickerson had an easy path to the Majors. If he is the 4th OF on this team next year I will be happy. Dickerson=Norris Hopper, nothing more, nothing less. Sorry if you are envisioning him as the solution to the leadoff/CF problem--he ain't it. No more than Hairston was.
August 18, 200818 yr Debunking the age 27 myth Weak argument. That focuses on ESTABLISHED Major Leaguers. Not 27 year old rookies. Keep drinking that Kool-Ade. Dickerson is nothing special.

Who said he was the solutition? All of couple people have said, is that he is playing good baseball. None of us know how he's going to pan out in the future, but how bout letting his play, and the one's who run the Team decide that.

Earlier you were just plain upset at the suggestion Dickerson wasn't the answer for the Reds' leadoff needs.

However, you've been making Goo-Goo eyes over him like many other Reds faithful on here. Just like y'all did over Hairston, Keppinger, Hopper, Freel etc. both in this season and in season's past. Dickerson is no more than a spare outfielder. The team's decisions have been haunting it for several years now, I suspect it will continue.

You need to pay more attention, I'm not a big fan of any of those players.
August 18, 200818 yr He's playing for the starting CF job next year unless the Reds go out and get somebody to play that position in the off season. It might help the evaluation process if Dickerson was to actually play a little center field. I know he did Sunday, but something tells me he won't be spending a whole lot of time out there as long as Patterson is around. If the Reds are considering Dickerson a potential starter, the outlook for next year isn't that good, either.

August 18, 200818 yr You may be right, but who do the go and get? That's what I'm thinking. He may not be the long term answer, but if he continues to hit just a little bit and plays decent defense, why not keep him there for the time being.
August 18, 200818 yr You may be right, but who do the go and get? They can't get anyone that is a signifigant upgrade. They are going to be bad for the foreseeable future. And you did advocate keeping Hairston and Keppinger around in a couple of threads also, I can go back and quote you if you want.
