Patterson may not be in the bigs next year, but Dusty has certainly looked after him this year. And let's face it, injuries have played a big role with this Team, had Freel not got hurt CP may of stayed in Louisville. One thing I do think we can count on this off-season is, it may be one the most interesting in Reds history.

The #2 hitter needs to be able to move runners over both by bunting and by hitting behind them. Dunn is proficient at neither, he's not a good #2 hitter.Ideally, perhaps, but this "handling the bat" stuff is overrated. What would you rather have at the top of the order? A guy that gets on base at about a .380 clip or better, or a less proficient hitter that can "handle the bat?" There are a lot of things about the Reds that don't fit, but Dunn is a hard guy to peg in the batting order. If he doesn't hit second, where does he hit?

He's hard to peg in the order because of his inconsistency, and all or nothing ABs create a void in the order. Battin him second and compounding that error by batting Griff third is just plain stupid. OBP means nothing if you can't run the bases. Think he can score from 1st on a ball hit in the gap? He is station-station at best. I really don't see how any one defends Dunn as must have player.
