Alexander to meet with the Bengals on Monday.

I think I've been taken wrong. I like Shaun and the way he has represented our state + carried himself. He was one of the best in the league a few years ago but last year he wasn't even the best on his team. His salary isn't even in the equation if I'm the Bengals. I'd offer him 1 mill-1.5 mill for one year with the ability to make more based on incentives. That gives the Begnals the protection to not lose by bringing him in and it gives him a chance to prove himself in a year much like Jamal Lewis did in his situation. Irons is way behind schedule in rehad so the Bengals are going to have to get somebody. I wouldn't even think about paying him the big contract but if I could get him that cheap with an incentives based contract for a year I'd roll the dice. The Bengals wouldn't be out hardly anything at all if it went down like that and they would have a lot to gain.

He's coming in Monday. I still think somebody like New England could be a player in the S.A. sweepstakes too.

Shaun appeared to be getting healthy over the last 5 or 6 games last year especially when he got rid of the cast. He had glimpses of his old self. Listen to what he has to say and if the Bengals can swing it by all means do it.

You have got to be kidding me; Shaun's better than the less than 100% Rudi that played last year injured and too light.

 

Before Rudi was injured last season, which was very early, he ran well; after Rudi adds weight to get back to his original playing weight, and the Bengals go back to emphasizing the run with their massive line, he will get in rhythm and have a good (not great) year; if Perry is healthy as expected after so long of an absence, look out for the RBs!

I don't know anything about the burning bridges thing so but in a way I would hate to see a once great back come home to a team full of thugs. That is about all that I have to say about the Bengals considering the latest assault charge thread.

 

There imo needs to be a complete housecleaning of the entire organization and team.

Shaun was my favorite player on my favorite team... And it was bittersweet to see him go, but I knew it was definitely time. I don't see the Bengals gaining anything by picking Shaun up... I just don't think he has it anymore.

Valid example, but definitely the exception and not the rule. Marcus' body benefitted greatly by having very few rushing attempts during the 1989, 1991, and 1992 seasons. The four years he led the Chiefs subsequent to that he averaged around 800 yards each season, and I'm assuming the Bengals are looking for a bit more than that.

 

The bottom-line is that an NFL RB has some of the strongest, fastest, meanest people in all of sports looking to rip their head off on every play. It takes its toll fairly quickly. And I don't think there's any doubt it's taken its toll on Alexander.

I don't think bringing in Alexander would be a very good move for the Bengals. They already have Rudi and two young backs in Perry and Irons. Only question with those two is their health.

 

If they do indeed bring Alexander in, I'd say it be on a one year deal where the majority of his money is incentive based. If he comes in and proves himself, sign him longer. It's not like he needs the money and playing for less for one year would hurt him. Seattle still owes him guaranteed money from the contract he signed with them a few years ago.
