April 2, 200818 yr I just don't get it why so many people would rather have it on Mon instead of Sun. The majority of people don't have to work Monday so they can enjoy Sunday night. If it is on Monday then about everybody has to work on Tues. It also messes up both teams preperation for the next week. Norfolk State isn't a big worry but why have the hassell when you don't have too? I still think it goes back to the basketball conflict. The game was already planned for Sunday. UofL wanted to change it and UK didn't. I think it's funny how the UofL folks are mad now about it. If I'm KY next year I'm trying to change the game to some random time to put the pressure on UofL to cooperate. Wait UofL already plays games on nights like Tues! The most watched opening game of the college season has been on that Monday night slot. People are preparing for Monday night football rituals and are getting a fix for college football at the same time. Despite how the time slot personally relates to you, it is golden if you can get it.

It will be watched by outsiders that want to see it. I don't know many folks that wouldn't enjoy having Monday to recupe. I here the recruiting tool and I understand to an extent but I also think it's overrarted. If beating the National Champs, playing in the SEC, playing in front of passionate fans, beating Fla St+Clemson in back to back bowl games, sponsored by Nike and having top notch facilities is outweighed by playing an out of confrence game on a Sun instead of Mon then I'm not sure I would want that kid anyways!

UK fans SHOULD want that time slot, too. It hurts them just as much. But I guess since it's our home game we'd have that slightly more to lose from an exposure perspective, so UK fans don't really care... again, they should. But whatever, I'll still be looking forward to the season even if all games were played at Iroquois High School's stadium at 4am on Wednesdays.
April 2, 200818 yr All I know is complaining is useless. Unless u play on Louisville or UK then it means nothing. Who cares what day or time they play. If you wanna watch the game buy a ticket and quit complaining over what channel it's gonna be on. That goes for both Louisville and Kentucky fans, we will all still watch the game and cheer on! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

April 2, 200818 yr Yeah I wouldn't mind it being on a game of the week or whatever, prime time stuff. But it's not and it's not up to us. It's not always about what ESPN wants. The AD has to take into consideration what the coach thinks is best for his team, and if that's playing at 3:30 on a Sunday so they can have more time to prepare their players for the next game then so be it! It's their bodies, their health at stake in each game and if the coach wants more time to heal and prepare then who are we to judge?
April 2, 200818 yr I don't see why everyone is blowing this so out of proportion. I mean Barnhart has stated an acceptable reason and find no reason to get disrespected because of it. The point is they will still be a feature game on a feature channel, and then both schools would have almost their normal time to prepare for the next game. When you play a Monday game you probably won't be able to get on the practice field until Wednesday, then more then likely you wouldn't practice Friday either, basically just be doing a walk through. Okay, so regardless of who either team plays the next week it is tough to get prepared for it being your losing practice time, and your still going to be burnout over a huge Monday night rivalry game. Basically all I am saying is it is better to not get a upset loss the following week because you were overlooking the team and was unprepared, then to have won the game the week before and being happy just because it was on Monday instead of Saturday or Sunday. I mean give me a break. Its still a rivalry game, its still Louisville/Kentucky, and its still on a feature channel. Primetime should never have anything to do with sports, instead it is just like an added bonus.

There had been discussion about moving the game to the evening of Monday, Sept. 1, an option UK balked at due to concerns over a short turnaround for the following week's game against Norfolk State. "You have to remember two things," Brooks said. "If we play an 8 o'clock game on Monday night, we get home maybe at 2, 3 o'clock in the morning. We have a real short night. We have practice and class the next day. It's just not a real good scenario for a turnaround for your players, and you're beat up going into the next game. "In this situation we play at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon, we'll get home at a reasonable time, and we'll have Monday to get the game behind us. That will give us three good days of practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I just feel a lot more comfortable with that.
