New Coach at Walton-Verona

Featured Replies

Good enough. That is the good thing about these forums. Everyone can have their own opinion. Like I said before, I hope he doesn't express interest.

Even though I don't think he is interested in the job, he would be a good choice. I'm just talking basketball since this is the thread. I know for a fact that he has high expectations for his girls and he puts in alot of time. If Walton could get him, they would have a fine coach. He wouldn't put up with the whining parents and he would let the administration know where he wants to go with the program. He makes the most of what he has and unfortunately he hasn't had alot at Williamstown.

Maybe my expectations are set higher.

And then your run the perception of people leaving your program like it is a sieve.

It is a hard balancing act. Trust me, been there and done both.

A coach can't please everyone and he/she shouldn't try. The parents either have to get on board or shut up. A coach can only balance for so long and then he/she has to draw the line. The administration must support the coach and help with the parent distractions/displeasures. If they don't, the coach don't have a chance. I've been there, done that. Coach the game and if the parents don't like it, too bad.

Maybe my expectations are set higher.

Nothing wrong with high expectations. Sounds like you just don't like the guy, for whatever reason. I think we all have high expectations, but you can only do so much with what you have. Be realistic.

I think the administration has a couple of good candidates. An announcement can not be made until the job has been posted for 30 days, but I feel the next coach at Walton will be either Cory Miller or Dan Trame. And if Walton is real lucky - both.

I hope Dan Trame isn't anything like his brother Terry.

Hopefully they are!

I couldn't agree more. :thumb: Both of these men would be a huge step in the right direction for this program.

Disagree, when the parents have done the work of taking the kids to pratices for years/ (some) working with their kids for years on improving their skills, and enstilling in their kids to play to the best of their potential and give their all. They have every right to WHINE when they are given a coach that has no business being there and is wasting the valuable time that the parents have dedicted to their child. If one of the players made a major mistake (like the administration made bringing this coach in) the administration would be all over them.]

Sounds like the parents are trying to re-live their youth!

Well said! :ylsuper::ylsuper:

Sounds like some of the parents know basketball,

Know very little about WV. What is Danny Sullivan doing these days?

I hope Dan Trame isn't anything like his brother Terry.

Is there anyone you do like for this job?
