Not sure how many coaches have expressed an interest in this job but if I'm a coach and I read this thread (And they do, they just can't help themselves) I would have very serious reservations about this job. It all sounds pretty political out at Walton and that's too bad.

Right. It's just how it goes for High School Basketball.

Here is what coaches out there should care about:

1. WV is loaded with young talent.

2. Realistically they could start a Sophomore, two freshmen, and two 8th graders next year.

3. Their current Freshmen, 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd grade girls teams have a combined record of somewhere around 200 wins and maybe 20 losses this season.

4. They have an incredible feeder system in place for a school of their size.

5. They are in the 8th region (No Private Schools)

6. They can challenge to win their conference every year

7. They can challenge to win the 8th Region All A every year

8. They should advance to the Regional Tournament every year

9. And down the road, with the right coach, could Challenge to win the 8th Region out right, a first for WV.

 

Yes, Expectations for success are high, and yes things have not gone well recently, but they have a rich tradition and are looking for someone to take the helm and right the ship. I just hope they find a great coach and that he/she is supported by the administration. Winning solves a lot of problems.

More so at Walton than a lot of people know. Look at the previous coach before Rosen. I believe he is the winningest girls coach in the school's history and look what it got him. Too bad for the politics and the power of some people. So much for winning curing a lot of things.

He had a long run at Walton. There had to be some other reasoning besides record in that case.

That would be a mistake, why waste time even considering her? They've already had a first year/inexperienced coach and we seen how that worked out. However, I do feel that the Administration had her in mind when they hired Rosen. By keeping Rosen a couple of years, this gave her two more years of coaching experience at the middle school level. So now is she ready, no way. They shouldn't even entertain this option. Move on to more qualified applicants.

 

Now how would it look if the AD's daughter got the head coaching job?? Come on people, get real!!

I don't believe they will ever pick the right coach in some people's eyes. Someone will always have a complaint about whomever they pick.

Agreed. It will interesting how it all turns out.

I don't have a problem with that but some of the upper classmen parents will.

 

You are exactly right! WV needs someone who will take a stand and let it be known that the best players will be on the floor regardless of their grade. As it was said before a coach could possibly start all younger players next year.

I believe the administration will pick the best person for the job. Girls get ready to work hard.
