I believe a new administration or AD came in at that time and all coaches (basketball, baseball, football, etc.) had to re-apply for their positions at the end of that year. After having the success that Dan had it appeared to be a slap in the face and the Walton position came open at the same time so he decided to go to Walton.

I agree completely that they need to work out of season. I know Hargett played volleyball but she also played on three AAU teams in the spring and summer and went to various gyms and played basketball in the fall. She also completed an acceleration training program in the fall during the volleyball season. She was the only senior to do these things and unfortunately they all got lumped together for things this season. Very unfair to her. She is a very dedicated and hard working player with a tremendous amount of talent! These past two seasons have been very hard for her because she will play at the next level.

There were other seniors that worked during the summer. Don't assume you know everything. Hargett did work hard, but don't think she was the only person on the team that put out any effort. It didn't hurt her to be 6'0" tall

No other senior played AAU ball. They did the minimum that the school coaches did. No it doesn't hurt her to be 6 foot tall but she also worked hard. Why do you find it so hard to give her some credit? These girls do read these and you are an adult I assume.

I gave her total credit. I just didn't put down the other girls to do so.

I am not putting down anyone. I think that group of seniors is a great bunch of girls. You were the one who mentioned that the younger girls played year around and how important that was. I was simply agreeing. Definitely not putting anyone down, you can't just play during the season.

I just heard this morning, from a very reliable source, that the AD did in fact let her husband go as a coach and Coach Burger resigned to spend more time with her daughter. Coach Richey would be very fun to watch.

That is what I heard as well. I am sure Coach Buerger will enjoy spending more time with her daughter, but I do not think that was the driving force behind her decision.

Wow! Talk about a thread that has become rather tiresome this one certainly has and they have known who their man was going to be all along. So when are they able to announce him so a new thread can start about him and he can hear from all the Walton faithful on how he is to run his program.

I too will be glad when they hire the new coach so a new thread can begin. I believe alot of fans and parents are glad that the drama of the past two years are over. I WILL NOT be attending any more girls games. I've heard and seen enough drama to last years from now. It still continues, as we see in these posting! This year, Walton will not have a year end banquet for the girls and their families and friends. It's only the bball girls. Now that tell you just how the season ended. :irked:
