I think the administration has a couple of good candidates. An announcement can not be made until the job has been posted for 30 days, but I feel the next coach at Walton will be either Cory Miller or Dan Trame. And if Walton is real lucky - both.

More money and better retirement would probably be 2 reasons not to mention that there seems to be some talent in the Middle School ranks at WV.

Just for the record, this is not just a Walton Verona position. My school district and many, many others have the same policy. It is common.

 

:thumb:Personally I think it's a good policy and one that most schools follow as you have indicated. Of course their are some schools that just sort of make it up as they go along but those schools tend to have poor leadership that result in this type of situation. If you want to go into administration make sure you got the Coaching out of your system. The 2 just don't mix well.

He lives in Verona, his kids go to WV and I think he saw the opportunity for an administrative position.

I know his wife and her family is from Walton so maybe they just wanted to go back home. Walton is an excellent school and a good place to raise your kids. Only Dan and his family can really answer your question as to why he left Campbell Co.

Maybe it's to obvious? I really don't know why she wouldn't but, from my understanding, she isn't the favorite to obtain this position at Walton Verona High School.

 

Who are you talking about?? The most desired coach for the position is Dan Sullivan, and he is apparently not an option because he is an administrator. With him out of the picture it appears wide open. Who is this "she" you are talking about??

I beleive that Coach Sullivan was a teacher and the Varsity Assistant coach for the boys and was offered the Assistant Principal job at Walton and said that he would take it as long as he could still coach and they said that was fine. He filled ALL of his responsabilities as an Assistant Principal, meetings, going to all athletic events, he went above and beyond what most people in the Administration do. A couple of people complained and they told him that he could not coach anymore. SHAME on the administration! IMO he is the BEST coach in the system.

Is there double standards? YES. Coach Hartman (Very good man) should not be allowed to coach. Why is it different? It is not. If they hired the best person for the job and that person was interested it would be Dan Sullivan.

Dan Sullivan is a quality coach and even moreso a very quality individual. With that said I don't believe you should do both. He is the son of a lifelong well respected educator who also tried to do pretty much the same when he 1st became an administrator and he found it didn't work well for him.

I have no doubt he would once again be a tremendous coach but if I'm the Superintendent I tell him he needs to pick. Coach or Administrator? Just my opinion and as I said I have nothing but respect for Mr Sullivan.

That would be a mistake, why waste time even considering her? They've already had a first year/inexperienced coach and we seen how that worked out. However, I do feel that the Administration had her in mind when they hired Rosen. By keeping Rosen a couple of years, this gave her two more years of coaching experience at the middle school level. So now is she ready, no way. They shouldn't even entertain this option. Move on to more qualified applicants.

Not sure how many coaches have expressed an interest in this job but if I'm a coach and I read this thread (And they do, they just can't help themselves) I would have very serious reservations about this job. It all sounds pretty political out at Walton and that's too bad.
