Because of Vandy and UT....Vandy can't win on the road, and UT has hardly been impressive in their last few outings.....

 

I don't care what 4 out of 6 isn't good. Throw out the Big East also, they have way too many schools that hurts RPI. There is no way to avoid how bad the SEC is right now.

Kentucky [18-11 (12-4), RPI: 47, SOS: 15] Weather postponed the Wildcats' SEC quarterfinal until Saturday, but it shouldn't matter as far as UK's at-large status. What went down around the country Thursday pretty much makes Kentucky safe. Yes, a loss to Georgia wouldn't be great, but almost everyone else lost, and the Cats appeared to be on the right side of the cut line before that. If they get in, it would be an incredible recovery from their early-season injuries, performance woes and the late loss of Patrick Patterson for the season. There are some ugly numbers in the profile -- namely no nonleague win in the top 250, no road win anywhere in the top 140 and 5-10 against the top 100 -- but the SEC surge when the roster got healthy definitely carries weight as the Cats are one of the few teams pushing their way in instead of out.

I don't know they are very very close.

Look, I know there are a lot of people on here that think Perry Stevenson can play. He can't. He rebounds well. He's athletic. He shoots FTs well. That's it.

 

His concept of defense is to let his man catch the ball wherever he wants and then try to block it. Doesn't work.

 

Today's game should prove that he can only score if UK's guards set him up with an uncontested dunk. UK's guards struggled today with getting to the rim. It forced UK into jumpers and UGA didn't have to worry about helping inside because there was no threat of scoring inside. In games like this and the upcoming tourney, you need to be able to get some points out of the post. UK cannot. Yes, I know he's had good stats but you have to watch and see how those points are garnered. He hurts the offense.

I don't really care......I mean, I would love for them not do, and would be estatic if they don't. I still think they'd be better off playing in the NIT. But with an RPI of 60 and a record of 18-12, that's awful....or at least very average. Thankfully they have KENTUCKY written on their chests, at least in your case.

The purpose of a pick is to free the man with the ball to shoot/pass/dribble more freely. I don't buy the "you don't call it late in the game" crap. Rules are rules. I'd ask an official to give me the rule that says it wasn't a foul or that the rules change with less than a minute.

 

If you foul a shooter the advantage is that he didn't have the chance to shoot naturally. If you commit a charge in the lane, the advantage you were gaining was that you knocked a player down that would have otherwise defended you.

 

If you knock a player down who stepped in your way for the sole purpose of hoping the refs would bail them out 90 feet from the basket with 1.2 seconds remaining in the game, what advantage did you gain? Seems pretty clear to me they were never going to inbound the ball at all on that one, let alone to Bradley.

 

That's just my devil's advocate argument based on what the announcers were talking about. I will say this to you or anyone else that has been saying this "foul a foul" thing. If you feel that way all the time, even when it goes against your team, and I mean truly believe it, not just saying it in this thread, then I commend you for it. You are a rarity. Most coaches, fans, players, refs, etc. subscribe to the idea that certain fouls are not called late in the game, and certainly aren't called 90 feet from the basket. Had this been a lob in and Bradley got wiped out in an attempt to catch the ball somewhere in play, I might feel differently. If Bradley had been fouled in an attempt, as the Ole Miss players were the previous night, I might feel differently. The difference here is that Bradley getting knocked over wasn't during the course of another play, it WAS the play.

You find me a place in the rulebook that says fouls that are normally fouls are not fouls if the player was trying to draw the foul and I'll say "you're right."

 

"Bail outs" happen all the time. There is no provision in the rulebook regarding "bail outs."

 

Just like there are judges that rule by the word of the book, I say a rule is a rule no matter if its 2 seconds into the game or 2 seconds left in the game regardless if it helps my team or hurts my team.
