Maybe you should have turned around and looked at the upper deck of Pendleton Co.'s side. Very few up there, besides their band. 99% of the people in the end zone were Montgomery Co. people. I agree with you most of the time Pressrow, but not on this one. I'm going to say Montgomery had 200-250 more people there than Pendleton.

It was the matchup I am sure and expect when this weather dictates that when the next game that more people from Mt. Sterling will come out. Can't really compare size of crowds for first round games because in the past I've chosen not to travel to some first round games for various reasons (too early, too late, my team was heavily favored or an extreme underdog). But at the Montgomery/Pendleton game I thought there was a good crowd for both and it looked like most sat in their assigned section (i.e. plenty of red on one side and blue on the other).

 

It was mentioned that at the fieldhouse Mason County fans don't want to give up their seat during tourn time, but at the game last night Montgomery Co seemed to be sitting on their assigned side (I didn't see any blue on the Pendleton side) I did observe during the regular season Mason Co fans have a habit of sitting in the visitors section - which IMO is rude.

 

An earlier post indicated that Mt. Sterling businesses would make up the difference in money for the teams assuming the gate receipts would be less. I would love to know the rationale behind this - what numbers would they use, why would local businesses just give money to other schools? I'm sure a lot of businesses have volunteered to help put on the tourn due to pride in the community and hopefully that will lead to a good financial return to the 10th region teams. I hope this is what was insinuated by that post.

 

It is unfortunate that this year's weather is going to be a contributing factor to attendance. It would be fun for someone to put together the history - number in attendance at each of the games with additional info (i.e. teams rank in region, weather conditions, comparison to girls games and location of that tourn).

Oh and about the difference in parking, the one advantage at Mason Co. is that you can get a 10pc. chicken meal at Lee's to eat on your long walk to the gym from your parking space. Haha!

What do other regions do when the their tournament is moved each year?? I feel sure that there are differences in the seating capacity of gyms in those regions and distance issues as well. Do people in other regions feel it should be held at the largest facility every year? I think everyone is so comfortable with the 10th being held in Mason that it's a hard habit to break.

I don't care where the regional tournament is played, as long as I have a horse in the race , I'll be there . Distance won't matter to me, whether it's played in Northern Ky , Montgomery Co ,Mason Co or Orangeburg. People make a big to-do over nothing.:banana: As far as crowds are concerned, there will only be two sessions in the entire tournament where you will have capicity crowds and that will be Clark-Mason and the final game. I didn't realize that all 11 of those schools made the Regional Tournament.

 

And I didn't realize that only the fans of the schools playing in the tournament can attend the tournament.

 

I thought it was for the fans of 10th Region basketball. I now know that the region tournament is only for the fans of those 8 teams that made the tournament.

Wow. Considering Montgomery was at home and Pendleton was a 90 minute drive, that is not a big difference. Seemed Pendleton did good in representing themselves with a crowd. Or Montgomery County did bad.

After all of this bad waether this weekend and probably cancellation of the games if looks to me that GOD is really mad the games were moved from the Fieldhouse after 30 years!!!!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Hated the drive. Loved the folddown seats in the lower section. Thought the gym was very nice as well as the people. Nice to see a change in scenery. Although I live in Mason county and the Filedhouse is allot closer.

Numbers have been pretty good thus far.

Pendleton was 7-20, there was no drama to be had. No anticipation on anyones part. This game was over when the bus pulled out of Pendleton Co.

 

Don't get me wrong... loved the team and your coach. But, the average fan wasn't going to leave their house for this one.
