That's why you also move your fans and students to the visitors side of the gym, like Montgomery Co. did. If you are the visiting team on the scoreboard, your team should sit on the visitors bench, and your fans should sit on the visitors side. This is exactly what Montgomery Co. did in their first round game. :flame:

 

Great Post El Gato..Been to the fieldhouse for years and NEVER have I seen Mason or fans moved because they were VISITORS. I must commend the Montgomery Co. Staff for doing the right thing and changing benches and sides. Now that is Classy...:thumb::banana::ylsuper:

I had forgot , but my son reminded me this morning that during the Scott vs GRC game last year, we were setting behind our bench...Mason Co home side....a old woman hit my son with her purse because he stood up and cheering for the Cards. Yes she was a Mason Co fan...and those were her regular seats.

Come on guys ...the tradition....this is the Fieldhouse.....they own this tournament in Mason County... Its theirs....you can't have it.....it's just not fair to move it....why should they have to drive.....it will never work...why should their fans have to move...wwwaaaaa!!!

A funny twist... For the district tournament the MCHS administration moved the home side to the visitor side. I don't know why, but I believe that part of it was to eliminate confusion for the Montgomery fans who have season tickets.

Now that Montgomery Co is the bottom team in the regional bracket, our fans are back on the side they were on during the regular season only now we are the Visitors.

There are valid reasons why Mason County administration has opted to keep their fans on their regular "home" side which the 10th Region schools are aware of and approve. I think the official "home" side during the tournament is actually the other side and it is actually the better side with no teams or game officials sitting in front of the fans and more on court seating. I always felt Mason County was doing other teams a favor by giving them the other side.

They had pulled pork sandwiches. Bathroom lines are no problem like at Mason Co. Parking is SO MUCH better at Montgomery. One thing I wish Mongtomery Co would do like Mason has, is open the doors eariler. Hopefully they will the next round of games.

They had 2 entrances into the parking lot...both before the game and afterwards, with member of the ROTC directing traffic, before and after the game. Very easy to get in and out of. Aslo just the way the parking lot is situated it is very large...no parking on a hillside, and no mud. Also Easy to get to the front gate of the gym.

 

I know they had ALE-8, pizza, popcorn, nachoes, candy bars...ect.

That's not a valid reason, that's an excuse. The regional tournament is neutral and should be treated as such, even when you are the host school. Mason Co. has bucked the notion of changing sides and benches to satisfy their own comfort level.

 

Mason Co. has down a great job in hosting the event in the past and will do so in the future, but they haven't always done things the "right" way. I've enjoyed the tournament thus far this year and I'm sure I will in the future, because I for one like the excitement of the event and the players and coaches of the games. :argue:

Having been a former coach, I know from experience that Mason Co sits on the home side to prevent the visitors bench from sitting in front of the Mason student section. This is discussed in the coaching meeting during the draw. This is in respect for the opposition. Of course if you've never been in the meeting, you wouldn't know this.

 

With that said, a buddy of mine who was at the draw this year, I wasn't, said that when the Mason staff came in for the draw that there were no seats left in the library. They stood up for a while in the back before someone went to get them chairs. That is close to being one of the funniest things I've heard recently. Next to the pretty potty newspaper article of course. He said everyone in attendance was having a good laugh.:lol:

You all must get really confused when you come to Maysville, there are 5 entrances into the Mason Co. parking lot. 3 of them are in the back by the football field, they exit on to Maple Leaf Road and 2 of them are in the front. I always exit out the back and have NO problems. Maybe that is your problem with the parking, too big and you get lost.

 

If we want to host the tournament closer where the Lexington fans can attend as stated in an earlier post, instead of making it closer to the majority of the 10th region why don't we just have it at memorial?

Montgomery Co.'s parking is better than Mason's hands down.

Who knows, when the next realignment takes place, GRC and Montgomery both might be opposite of Mason County and then all this discussion will be over and non existent. I am really confused by the discussion of where the crowd sits, and Montgomery sitting on the visitors side? I was over watching the game the Montgomery County girls played against Highlands on a Saturday in the Kentucky Preps Classic and Montgomery fans were positioned in the same place as they were the other night when they played Pendleton. Montgomery was the home team against Highlands. I am really confused after reading all of this.

12th Wed 7:00 finals.

What about people that just like good basketball? It's not like basketball is more important in Northern Kentucky. Fans around Lexington would love to come see their future wild cat in action but would not make the drive if it was at Mason. The casual fans will come no matter where the sites at.

 

 

As I said, why position the tournament so Lexington fans can come watch Darius? They have had ample opportunity to watch Darius this year IN Lexington. I would assume they have their own regional tournament to watch this week. This statement is just another attempt to justify moving the tournament further away from the other schools in the 10th region.

No, I was using that as an extra draw for the "casual fans". I was saying casual fans will come wherever the tourny is at, not just in Maysville.
