Having been a former coach, I know from experience that Mason Co sits on the home side to prevent the visitors bench from sitting in front of the Mason student section. This is discussed in the coaching meeting during the draw. This is in respect for the opposition. Of course if you've never been in the meeting, you wouldn't know this.

 

With that said, a buddy of mine who was at the draw this year, I wasn't, said that when the Mason staff came in for the draw that there were no seats left in the library. They stood up for a while in the back before someone went to get them chairs. That is close to being one of the funniest things I've heard recently. Next to the pretty potty newspaper article of course. He said everyone in attendance was having a good laugh.:lol:

We have been trying to tell you all if you want a good seat you have to get there early....:lol: Guess they wasn't used to traveling....it does make a difference.:lol:

Once again, another shot at Montgomery County from the "Sugardaddy" it is really getting quite old. Like I have stated before, the region is at Montgomery County, and it's going to stay that way until this years winner is determined, so just please quit the crying and complaining and throwing little smart comments about Montgomery County out all the time, it is just stupid for you to even think something to this extent. We all know you want Mason to win, you don't have to keep taking these shots at Montgomery to prove it to everyone.:thumb:

That would seem to be the average Montgomery County fan if Pendleton drew as close to Montgomery as is being reported on here.

 

And btw, you are making the point for the region tournament NOT to be in Mt. Sterling. There are more average fans closer to Maysville than closer to Montgomery County. Considering the 37th, 38th and 39th districts are all closer to the Maysville.:thumb:

 

Its almost like your earlier post about it not being just about the participant schools....I didn't realize the 10th region tournament was only for 10th region fans.

Being a former coach in the 10th region and when we had the regional draw,the only ones who attended were the coaches, assistant coaches and the AD'S, a few newspaper people and someone from WFTM. Hardly ever no more than 2 people from each school. There wouldn't be more than 25 people there ever. I've even seen less than 25. I don't think it should be open to the public.That just calls for a problem. They don't need to be there.:thumb:

Gosh no, making draws public would be a disaster. I was at the draw and thought there were plenty of seats available. I remember most of the Montgomery people were standing up as well, but I really didn't pay attention to things such as who was sitting where. I was there to cover the draw. It's like when I go to church, I am there to worship. ... Some people tend to do otherwise. ...

How are the concessions, bath room lines,parking,etc. so far ? Are they selling pizza,popcorn,etc.? Wish the tournament host would add other food items, like Bracken County and pork tenderloin sandwiches at the district tourney

I've covered a lot of tournaments in my career and I think Montgomery County is doing a fine job. You want poor concessions? Try going to an EKU basketball or football game. For a college, it's pretty bad.

They had pulled pork sandwiches. Bathroom lines are no problem like at Mason Co. Parking is SO MUCH better at Montgomery. One thing I wish Mongtomery Co would do like Mason has, is open the doors eariler. Hopefully they will the next round of games.

That's why you also move your fans and students to the visitors side of the gym, like Montgomery Co. did. If you are the visiting team on the scoreboard, your team should sit on the visitors bench, and your fans should sit on the visitors side. This is exactly what Montgomery Co. did in their first round game. :flame:

I agree, the doors should be open at least an hour and a half before the game. To get 4000 people through there in an hour is too much and the line would be too long. Otherwise ,everything is great.

I agree on the weather. If you get the chance you might mention to the poweres to be at Montgomery that they really need to address the time of opening the doors. It looks like it may be very cold outside when we do have the game and people will get there early, no need to set in their cars or outside in the cold. This is not a complaint just a observation that could help hold down the complaints.

Everything else has been top notch.!!
