10th Region Tourney Host

Featured Replies

Wherling Sterling is ONLY 30-40 minutes from Lexington.......in the country sometimes you have to drive a little while to get where you are going, its not an inconvience, simply look at it as a sight seeing trip

So that's an extra hour... As he said..

I am from NKY and I have to agree with you. If the team I support is in the regional tourney, I will drive no matter where it is at, if I want to see the game. If you don't want to drive a long distance to watch your team play then join the other casual fans that in todays environment listen to the game on radio or the internet. Just quit complaining about the driving time. You most likely didn't drive to the game anyway.

:thumb:I have had to take off work many times when we played in the regional tourney and played at 5:00 at Mason Co. Yes it is a hardship, this is one of the reasons I would like to see it rotated. If it is at a neutral court in NKY I will make the sacrifices again to support my Cards. I don't like the alternative....my Cards not playing in the regional tourney.

If it is going to be played at the new NK arena how are they going to do that since the 9th region has confirmed they will have the Boys and Girls regional tourny there for at least 3 years ??? Or maybe I have been mistaken on the 9th being played there. Just wondering.

I can understand and appreciate your point.

BUT, 5:00 games at Mason inconvenienced GRC and Montgomery.

5:00 games at Montgomery inconvenience, Scott, Calvary Christian, Campbell, Brossart, Silver Grove, Pendleton, Deming, Bracken, Augusta, St. Patrick and Mason County.

There is a big difference in inconveniencing the fan base of two schools and the fan base of 11 schools.

It would be 6 schools to 2 since they all can't make the tournament. If you wanted to do that, then you can add Paris and Bourbon on our list. But I see your point.

If it's rotated then you all are inconvencienced just ONCE while we are inconvencienced several times if you use the Fieldhouse and the NKU.

So only fans of the schools playing in the tournament can attend and be inconvenienced???

I would feel the same way about NKU hosting it. That would be wrong as too much of the region would be highly inconvenienced.

I come to this opinion from the girls side that DOES rotate. I love 10th REgion girls basketball, but when it is at Winchester and Mt. Sterling, I ain't making it.

I would prefer a central location like the Fieldhouse where most of the region is not inconvenienced.

Paris and Bourbon is not a far drive at all to Maysville. Can't be any further than it would be to Maysville from NKY.

To all the Mason fans that say it is too far. Why did you go to Hawaii then? Besides, if your saying it is too far then why isn't it to far for the other teams to go to Mason? Sounds to me that the 10th region needs to sit down and decide where the center-most point is between all the schools and just build a big arena that holds 805,476 people so no one says it is too far or complains that they were twenty minutes late for the game so they got turned away.

The center part is not too far from Maysville. I would guess within 20 minutes of Maysville and the present standing Fieldhouse.

And as others had pointed out, it IS NOT JUST MASON FANS. I am NOT and NEVER will be a Mason Fan.

But as it is best and traditional for the state tournament to be at Rupp, it feels the same way to this boy who grew up in the 10th and the Fieldhouse. It just doesn't feel like the regional tournament if it ain't at the Fieldhouse.

Hey its a preety sad day when for one year, you all complain about moving the Region Tournament to Montgomery Co. So maybe the 40th district doesn't have to travel 2 hours for the 407th time and you have not heard us complaining. It left the fieldhouse for one whopping year and you all are already complaining about the drive?:lol::irked::confused::sssh::fire:

No but that's where the majority of the fan base will come from... Most true die hard fans will go see their teams wherever they plan unless they are just unable to.:thumb:

All I'm saying is, is it too much to ask for to host the region where it is convenient for this district when they just vote every 4 years?

I honestly don't remember seeing one Mason Co. fan complain about driving. I agree with ladiesbballcoach, it is just a change and many people don't like change. Especially something that has been the same for 40 years. It doesn't feel like region if it's not at the Fieldhouse, but I'm all for rotating it between NKU, Montgomery and the Fieldhouse. As both the alternate sites are close to an hour drive from my house.

As far as I remember on many of these region host threads, Mason Co. fans have been nothing but supportive of Mt. Sterling and wishing them well in their shot at hosting. With that being said, I hate that I am not able to make it to this years games.

Paris is about 1 hour to Maysville. Not a bad drive at all straight down US 68.

I went last night to the game as well. I thought that Deming didn't bring as many people to the game as they usually do and I heard several complaining about the seating.

I have to add, I WENT TO THE PRETTY POTTIES!!! They aren't as pretty as the Montgomery Co. athletic director predicted, scratches on the doors and everything. I was expecting at least 24 karat gold seats! I must say I was disappointed. I took a picture but can't get it to upload. I wanted to hear everyone else's opinions.

Of course you have nothing good to say about the place. How predictable.

I don't understand this either. I haven't seen one comment on BGP where people from Mt. Sterling or Winchester are complaining about having to drive to Alexandria for the girls' tournament. Maybe people from NKY are just bigger crybabies... :sssh:

No we're just used to it. We've only been driving to Maysville for the Boys tourney for the last 39 years!

Wow didn't realize the girls' tournament was held in Alexandria for the past 39 years. Especially since the NKY schools were not in the region for a good portion of that time. Hosting the 10th region tournament in Alexandria when there were no schools located in Alexandria IN the 10th region was a dumb decision.:sssh:;)
