Wow didn't realize the girls' tournament was held in Alexandria for the past 39 years. Especially since the NKY schools were not in the region for a good portion of that time. Hosting the 10th region tournament in Alexandria when there were no schools located in Alexandria IN the 10th region was a dumb decision.:sssh:

Is there a such thing as visitors side and home side at Montgomery Co. I see the signs but I guess at Mount Sterling those two words are defined differently. Lets see if Pendleton Fans experience the same as most. :lol:

I love Montgomery's new Gym. It's time the tournament was rotated, it's seems like there is a lot of sour grapes going on in this thread.

I was lucky enough to play in four regional tournaments in the Fieldhouse, from my experience the crowds were neutral. When you make it that far, your fans will come.

I think that moving the tournament around isn't a bad idea if the travel route has good roads, if you are coming from nky to the fieldhouse it is a strait shot down the AA. If you come from Montgomery Co its just down 11. You will never satisfy everybody! I drove from Mt.Olivet last night most of the way it was all backroads but that's Mt.Olivet for you. I think the fieldhouse is better for me travel wise. But I was just happy to be there not the outcome!

I think it's an issue with a lot of non Mason Co. fans. I will just miss the tradition of the Fieldhouse. I love that gym! I will be interested to hear opinions if we end up with a Mason vs. Montgomery Co. final, and fans are turned away at the door.

 

I agree. I enjoy going to the Fieldhouse as well. As a former resident of Campbell Co., I hope to never see the 10th Region at NKU.

Paris is about 1 hour to Maysville.

I agree. When you make it to the region finals or to the semi-finals the crowd is usually going to be split. Not so much one sided as some say.

Depending on where in Bourbon Co. you are coming from. From gym to gym, it is about 45 min. driving from 62-65mph. I live across the street from the Fieldhouse, and I played summer baseball for Bourbon Co. for two summers and made the track very often.

We have to go through Paris to get to Mason Co. It takes me 1 1/2 hours to get to Mason Co. Take me 30 minutes to Paris...but I dont' drive over 60 mph.

I think MixaLot refers more to the regional alignment to begin with. This is no knock on any other school in the region or the region itself. It's a two hour trip on a school night for a regional basketball game regardless of who's driving where. Just pull out a map, look at the geography involved and the travel. Scott's 8 miles from the Ohio border in the greater Cinci area and we're driving to Lexington and and then east on 64. same deal for the Campbell county schools involved. Same thing can be said for Simon Kenton's alignment with the 8th region.

I know one group that is satisfied, Estill Co!!!!!!! We drove to Mason Co for 27 years. Not necessarily happy to be out of the 10th, just happy to be where things are more equitable. No one seemed to care that our kids got home at 1:30 in the morning. When you travel that far, regardless; you're at a disadvantage. Montgomery will run a great tournament. A new tradition will dawn and things will become a bit more equal.

I was kind of thinking about on a school bus. Pardon me for thinking about the KIDS!!! School buses can't really drive over 55 mph.

I guess I was lucky in being able to take a bunch of fun people on my trip from Augusta because the ride the game and the people in Mt.Sterling was great.I feel bad for kids like St.Pat that didn't get a chance in thier high school career to go.

With that comes extreme pressure to succeed.

 

Home court isn't what its cracked up to be when your are dealing with young men and woman in high school.
