Anyone else think that the young Knipp is the Division 1 prospect on that team when he is a senior? Looks like he handles the ball well and has a good stroke. How far is the drive from Sandy Hook(timewise)? Who is number 0 on the JV? Is there a reason that the players who get the most PT are numbered 0-5?

He is ball handling and quickness away from D1. If he can develop the type of ball handling that is required at the D1 level and add a little quickness (not speed, but quickness), then he can play at the D1 level. He would be an excellent player in the OVC, IMO.

Being a Royal fan, that was one of the most enjoyable things I have seen in my two years of going to the Fieldhouse.

 

I want to tip my hat to the Elliott fans for basically filling up their side of the gym 30 minutes before the JV game, impressive.

 

As for the JV game, Mason Co wins by 20-25 points. Kids can develop and things can happen, but if things do stay the same, Elliott is REALLY going to struggle in 2 years when the NBA team graduates.

 

As for the varsity game, Elliott has now played 3 teams that take care of the ball and force them into halfcourt sets. They are now 0-3.

 

The Royals could have drove into the lane whenever they wanted, they did a great job of moving the ball and knocking down the shots. They played amazing shut down defense and it was a thing of beauty to watch.

 

Elliott is a darn good team, but they aren't a top 10 or even top 20 team in the state. They are just one of the better teams in the 16th. Good luck to them in the playoffs. :thumb:

Your missing the point. What I'm saying is enrollment wise Elliott, while not in the same league as the big boys are a good team... If Mason had Elliott's enrollment {no bias for ball players) would they be where they are at??

 

I think Mason Co. enrollment is around 790......Maybe in North Dakota they would be considered a big school......:jump:

 

Without question Mason Co.'s program delivers quality basketball. Not the enrollment.

 

If enrollment mattered most, then teams from Louisville and Lexington would win the state hands down every year.

 

Also, Mason Co. would loose about half or maybe more of its games per year.

I was making a point about large enrollments. Nothing against those two schools. I guess I worded what I was trying to say wrong. Someone was saying something about Mason being a much larger school. Sorry for pushing that button of yours. I don't think enrollment has anything to due with the quality of players is what I was wanting to say. I just used Trinity and CCH as examples.

Very well said, and I totally agree with you. He needs to improve on ball handling next year, but I think he has a quick first step, but may force the issue a little to much at times. He can shoot the lights out of it and for those of you that saw him for the first time tonight, he shoots it a lot better without a 6'7" D-1 signee in his face all night.

According to the team roster he is 6'2" and 175lb. I have watched him play several games and there was some doubt about him playing major D1. After watching him tonight there is no doubt. He scored 27 aginst Miller who guarded him for the most part. 6-13 from three(46%). He also penetrated with Miller all over him and got to the rim a few times and hit one or two and missed one or two.

He has almost two years to get better, stronger, quicker. IMO he would serve the two spot better than the one.

But if he is a D-1 player he might want to get used to it. He has a nice shot. Really good elevation.
