If Elliott County wins the 16th, they will definitely need to make adjustments if they play again. First of all, they have to take care of business. May have to change type of defenses to contain Miller and Middleton better. But let me say this: When Miller wants to play and I mean play, then there is not much you can do. Elliott has got to have more possessions and more shots than Mason and I do not mean a small number.

You're right but I've seen both games with Montgomery Co. this year and they are no match for Mason and they just beat Clark Co. bad so I'm pretty sure they won't let their guards down this year. There is no guarntee's in anything but this is the closest thing to it.:ylsuper:

Yeah, now that you mention it, I don't remember them being there last year!

In my opinion there was nothing "outstanding" about Masons defense tonight. They played good D but nothing spectacular. Several open looks by Elliott simply rimmed out...they normally dont. If you want to talk about defense I think you have to point to the subpar halfcourt defense by Elliott. Mason had plenty of open looks in half court offense and they knocked 'em down....Mason 64% Elliott 31%....

 

This was the first time I have seen Mason in regular season this year. They are an excellent basketball team. Elliott is above average but does have a few weaknesses....

I don't think if this game was at Elliott County that the same amount of fans would have attended from Mason County like the folks from Sandy Hook did. Very,very impressive showing on their behalf. Have never been to a regular season game at the Fieldhouse where the opponents fans filled the bottom half and most of the upper half before the JV game. Does Mason County have a band anymore? There is no atmosphere whatsoever in that gym when there is no band and they haven't been at any of the 3 games that I have attended this season. The young Knipp is a player and whether Mason fans admit it, most of Ferguson's points were on Miller,especially in the 4th quarter. Darius had a hand in his face. Lots of people say Mason is very beatable without Miller or Setty, but as Middleton goes so goes this team. Still say if he hadn't gotten injured in that state tourney game Mason may have went to the finals and he was a freshman on that team.

You dont think Ferguson would be able to play major D-1 ball? He has been playing this well all season and really showed up tonight in a big-time game. Some were claiming Elliott had 5 D-1 players earlier in the season but it is now obvious they dont.

 

Ferg is getting D-1 attention by letters and visits. In the end it is what the coaches think that matters since they award the scholarships. Us fans are not awarding any scholarships last time I looked. We have our opinions, but ours don't count since we don't have any scholarships to give out.

Last game if I'm not mistaken, Mason was missing a starter. Downing, I believe. That usually throws any team off somewhat. Again, just a brother's opinion.

Ferguson would be a risky chance (at this point) for a major college coach. I think he shoots it well enough to play D-1 but he needs work on shot selection and his size will scare off a lot of coaches. He basically needs some real coaching and he could be a real surprise. If he improves a lot over the summer someone will take the chance. I really hope he gets a chance because from what I hear he has worked really hard at his game.

I still can stroke them (just scored 40 last weekend :ylsuper:). I still play every weekend in the Morehead City League :thumb: I'd love to hear where you heard that crazy rumor at.

It's easy for fans of Mason to laugh off Elliott and not take them serious..People on here love nothing more than to slam Elliott..My statement is, Remove 3 out of every 4 players from Mason's team (as per enrollment numbers) And see how they stack up with teams across the state. Is Elliott a premier team in the state?? No.. Are they a team that for their enrollment size is doing things extraordinary?? Absolutlely!

 

Okay, well remove Ferguson from Elliot County. He almost scored half of their points, and the 2 Faulkners. You can say the same thing about any team out there. Well, duh, if you remove 3 or 4 of any team's starters, there is going to be some difference in how good they are.

Ok, well what about the first time when the Indians played them close in the fieldhouse, pulling to within 5 with about 2 minutes to go in the 4th.

 

I mean you can say the Royals are the better team, but to say the Indians are "no match", is kind of uncalled for. And Downing did play the first time.

What I want to know is why won't they pull the stage bleachers out. My gosh that place was packed and hot. How many people do you all guess was there tonight? I'm going with 3700-4000. I hope Elliott makes it to Rupp, I like their style of play. Hope all the Lion fans made it home safe.
