I was just thinking there are 4 high schools in a 15 mile radius and if you put all those kids together you would have a pretty good bball team. And I don't know how far Mason kids come to high school but if you divide them up they probably would not be as good. I'm not from any of those schools so there was no hidden message in there.

 

Well, the schools were divided at some point. I think there were three schools in the county until 1992... (date may be wrong). Those schools being Maysville, Mason Co. and St. Patrick. So, at one point they were divided and Maysville and Mason Co. had some pretty good ball teams while they were split.

Miller's team won by 29 points, that's domination. It is a team sport still. If a kid scores 15 points and leads his team to a win over a top 10 team is that not better than getting 27 points in a 29 point loss?

 

I would let a player have 40 points every game if my team wins by 30 points. Curious question, would the outcome be different if the other Elliott County players would have been more involved?

 

I believe he was referring to the statement that Ferguson was dominated. That removes the obvious argument that Elliot was dominated. There have been multiple deceptive, or at least questionable, posts on how well Ferguson personally played against the competition.

Your prediction was correct Ferguson only scored 27 points against Miller, WOW Miller held Ferguson to 1 point below his average that really is dominating a player. You evidently were not able to comprehend that "Sidelinecoach" was referring to the post that said that Ferguson had 10 of his points after Miller left the game, which was not true he only scored 2 free throws after Miller left the game. Mason County did dominate Elliott County, but Miller definately did not dominate Ferguson. Come on!!

This thread is unbelievable. It's nearly 3500 views and 5 pages of posts show the passion for basketball in these two areas of the state. In all reality, a school the size of Mason Co. should beat a small school like Elliott just based on numbers.

I can recall a kid by the name of Ervin Stepp back around 1980 scoring nearly 50 points per game. Great scorer, but he probably would been fine with scoring fewer points if his team could have been more successful.

I would have to agree the 10th region is stronger than the 16th region, but before everyone says the 16th region has no chance at Rupp, let me rewind you to last years Russell team vs this same Mason County team in the 5th 3rd. Russell was one free throw in regulation, or a last ditch shot going down in overtime from taking this same Mason County team down.:scared:

 

That Russell team was a lot different than this EC team... I watched the game you're talking about and Russell had 5 players who sat down and played very good defense, while also having VanHoose and some other good players. Russell was a defensive minded team, EC is far from that....

Every one knows its about the team. I also know you well enough to know if it were your kid who was getting lied about you would come to his defense. Now is that not right ole buddy:thumb: Now it is a team sport but they do keep individual stats also. Individual players get commendations from some and they get hammered by some. There is nothing wrong with defending them, or posting 10,000 times about whatever because we pay to do that on this site and it is still(as of right now) a country where you are allowed to state your opinion freely!:thumb: You haven't called in a while you mad or something.

So Dunbar or Henderson Co. should win the state tournament in every sport based on their enrollment, they are the two largest shcools in the state. Size of the school has nothing to do with who wins basketball games. It is skill, preparation, execution and the will to win. The better team (usually upsets excluded) wins the game whether they have 50 or 2000 kids in the school. As someone stated before Rose Hill beat Elliott Co. and RH has 84 students.

There is quite a bit of difference in the Ferguson kid and Stepp. Stepp avgd, 50 Ferguson avg's 27. Stepp took 40-50 shots a game. Ferguson takes

15-20. Ferguson avgs 3 assist also. He is a team player.

Now that we have crowned Mason co. State Champs for this year......I want to pick 10th region winner for next year........one of the three teams above, most likely GRC

 

What is this about? Didn't realize the state champ was crowned until March and according my calendar it is still February.:confused:

I have come to the realization that Elliott fans and Mason County fans are EXACTLY the same. For some reason they BOTH have an inferiority complex. Mason is obviously a remarkable team. However, thier fans (and Elliott fans) are on many threads "talking trash" and explaining why they are superior to everybody else. Both fans get on my nerves. I think I am done for the season.

Where did you get your stats on Stepp? I would like to read more about his stats.

Another big difference was Stepp did not have the 3pt shot.

Being up by as many points as Mason Co. was in this game, I am sure Mason Co. didn't apply much pressure in half court sets. Allowing Elliot Co. to shoot from the outside.

 

But, it does sound like the Elliot Co. kid has a nice stroke though !

I think Mason Co showed why they are the best team in the State. They can prove it again next Friday vs Station.
