Hearsay, read your statement above carefully. Was this a subliminal slip of the keyboard? :D
They had to pay to get into the final ?

It does seem odd. I've looked at it 3 times and can't figure out what the heck I meant.

Then why say it? What good could come of it?

I dunno. Last night, I told my wife that I was going to take her out to get some new clothes. I really meant that I wanted to surprise her with a new wardrobe. She heard me saying that she was fat and that nothing fit. I slept on the couch, which was comfortable as I get used to it more and more. Sometimes we just say things.

If you force me to bet as to the intentions of you and the coach, I believe you really didn't mean the way it was heard.

Could you call my wife?

Hearsay slept on the coach?
I don't think this is correct.

It takes a few minutes to read the chart the KHSAA has out. Trinity and St. X can meet prior to the state final next year. Round 4.

Look closely and you'll see that Trinity will entertain Region 1 winner and would represent Semi state one . This year the Rocks represent semi state 2.

Good for the coach, I don't think he made excuses just told the truth good for him, seems the only ones complaining are the private school folks.

What is his basis for his thinking? Using similar logic, then in many years the KHSAA would have put Highlands and CovCath in separate brackets; NCC and Beechwood in separate brackets, etc, etc. as those matchups would have probably resulted in bigger gates at the championship games. Admittedly not the draw as X vs T, but the underlying logic is still the same. Furthermore as has been pointed out ad nauseaum on here, if the KHSAA was only concerned about the payout of the state championship game, why would they have approved the rotating playoffs? That seems totally inconsistent with the Coach's thinking. Perhaps he may want to reconsider his thought process.

By the way, I do not intend by my above comments to say the Coach isn't a great coach, a great man and a great leader of young adults. I don't know the man so I would never make such statements. But I don't think his thinking was well thought out before he spoke with the press. My guess, it was simply a statement he made while he was wrapped up in the emotion of a tough playoff loss. Which happens all the time and is certainly understandable.

More and more I notice that "Not Afraid to Speak his Mind" never turns out to be a good thing...

There is a difference between saying "The KHSAA set this up so X and T could pay and play for the final, and they got what they wanted" AND

If I give a post game interview and I make a statement that "X had 100 guys, and we couldn't overcome it," it may just very well be me saying that one of the reasons I lost was because of superior numbers, not platooning players, and eschelons of fresh reserves. What private school supporters HEAR is "this public school is accusing us of recruiting and cheating to get the numbers we have." Its arrogant.

I don't understand how thinking that (if we do what you say) is arrogant. We're not bragging because because we are accused of these things, it just goes with the territory. I have not had a single conversation this YEAR on this subject where the words "recruiting" or "cheating" did not come up. I expect it, but I am not arrogant because I do.

On the original topic, I don't really see problem with what he said, though I don't agree that the KHSAA did it for the money. Maybe they did what all our tourney should do, and set it up where the strongest two teams have a chance to make the finals. The NCAA seeds the BBall tourney for a reason, so you don't have all the number 1's in the same bracket.

On a side note, they sure didn't try to do the same for field hockey this year(daughter plays) as all Catholic schools and the top public school were in one half of bracket. Those teams beat all the teams in the other side of bracket. It was pretty much a chalk tournament.

ladiesballcoach,

Off topic, but that is a wicked cool avatar you have. It made my day. How nice for the season. Will it stay after Christmas?

Funny last year, I think it was Run To State who gave me a hard time because I kept it till February.

I agree 100%.

Also, it comes across as sour grapes or a shot from where I am sitting.

I don't know if the KHSAA wants or doesn't want anything on this subject matter but I know what I want. I want the large public schools in KY to get it in gear because there is an enormous amount of room for improvement.

Also, for all of you large, public schools, check out this thread again and ask yourself why doesn't Ohio have this problem?

Whenever you agree with me 100%, I get nervous about what I posted. :D

I do agree that the large public schools have a long way to go. At times I see big improvement out of some programs and then it falls off and I realize that the improvement was probably more due to a up cycle in talent than anything else. I hope if Yeagle can ever get healthy and fully return to coaching, that he takes over a big school's football team in N. Ky. Or for that matter, if Smith ever leaves UK's football staff, I'd love to see what he could do at a big Lexington high school.
