As for Hawaii playing not that great a schedule, coming into the Boise State game it was the WORST schedule in the country in the computer rankings. So its an automatic "no" for Hawaii, since they struggled, but won against a 4-9 BCS conference school at home on the last weekend of the season. While they might not need to play in the title game, no one can argue they're worthy of a BCS bowl. Didn't West Virginia struggle, and lose to a 4-7 BCS conference school at home on the last weekend of the season? No one is complaining that they get to go to a BCS bowl. What I can't understand is the double standard. It's okay for West Virginia to lose under certain circumstances, but for Hawaii to face the exact same circumstance and win, we knock them?

December 3, 200718 yr BCS bowl - yes. National title game - no. Strength of schedule just not strong enough; conference not strong enough. That being said, I mentioned on another thread that it may be very difficult for Hawaii to get traditional powerhouse teams to give them a game.

West Virginia did lose to a bad Pitt team. However, they did win their conference who has an automatic bid to a BCS Bowl. Also along the way they beat 6 Bowl Teams: Maryland, East Carolina, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Cincinnati, and Connecticut. Their other loss was to another Bowl Team in South Florida. Meanwhile the combined record of Hawaii's opponents was 53-92. They beat 3 bowl teams, all from the WAC conference: Fresno State, Boise State and 6-6 Utah. They also played against 4 different 10 loss teams, 1 of which wasn't even division 1: 1-11 Northern Colorado, 2-10 UNLV, 1-11, 2-10 Utah State. They also played another 1AA team in Charleston Southern. In other words they played no one this year and they don't deserve a BCS spot. They'll get steamrolled by UGA. At least last year Boise State owned a win over an Oregon State team that finished 10-4.
December 4, 200718 yr 1st off I don't think they are one of the top two teams but I don't think Ohio State is either and they will be in it. Hawaii has beaten just as many good teams as Ohio State has. State your case. How can you say that when Hawaii has the weakest schedule in all of football and OSU plays in the Big 10???:eek:

WVU played a fairly challenging schedule. Which teams on UH's schedule match up with Rutgers, UConn, UC, UL, Pitt, USF, should I go on?
December 4, 200718 yr The players from Hawaii don't get to pick who they play. No one is placing any blame on any person or institution (well, besides the NCAA/BCS folks). They played their schedule and won all of the games. Congrats to them on a fine season. That, by itself, does not mean they are a top tier team. Are they? Who knows? They did nothing this year to answer that question. However, they also did nothing to make us say "wow, good tough team." Great story, though.
