In my honest opinion I think Hawaii deserves a shot to play for the National Championship. Hawaii beat just as many good teams as Ohio State and they havent lost a game. Regardless of the conference, if you go undefeated you deserve a shot at a National Championship. The WAC is no joke as you saw last year when Boise State beat Oklahoma. I hope the Warriors go out and prove the voters wrong. Go WARRIORS!

So remind me again who the best team Ohio State beat with that logic? I'm not saying I don't agree with you but that's a double standard.

So remind me where I made one reference to Ohio State. The title of the thread is "Does Hawaii belong in the National Championship game?". I answered that question.

Also, the reasoning of "Hawaii beat the teams on their schedule" doesn't hold water either. Yes, they have to play their conference teams but they pick their OC opponents. The NCAA nor the WAC makes their OC schedule.

 

Plain and simple, you play in weak conference then you better have one heck of tough OC schedule.

West Virginia did lose to a bad Pitt team. However, they did win their conference who has an automatic bid to a BCS Bowl. Also along the way they beat 6 Bowl Teams: Maryland, East Carolina, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Cincinnati, and Connecticut. Their other loss was to another Bowl Team in South Florida.

 

Meanwhile the combined record of Hawaii's opponents was 53-92. They beat 3 bowl teams, all from the WAC conference: Fresno State, Boise State and 6-6 Utah. They also played against 4 different 10 loss teams, 1 of which wasn't even division 1: 1-11 Northern Colorado, 2-10 UNLV, 1-11, 2-10 Utah State. They also played another 1AA team in Charleston Southern. In other words they played no one this year and they don't deserve a BCS spot. They'll get steamrolled by UGA. At least last year Boise State owned a win over an Oregon State team that finished 10-4.

 

Washington finished 4-9 and had zero passing game, they are far from a solid team. As for Hawaii playing not that great a schedule, coming into the Boise State game it was the WORST schedule in the country in the computer rankings.

 

No, they don't even belong in a BCS game. They deserve it according to the current rules but after watching them the last 2 or 3 games they are just not that good of a team. Brennan is very good and he has a great rapport with his receivers. However, a 4-9 Washington team that is totally one-dimensional very easily could have beaten them on their home field. They simply don't have the type of defensive players to stop a decent offensive attack. If they played in one of the BCS conferences they'd finish around 6-6. They're different than last year's Boise State team or the Alex Smith Utah team. Those were legitimately good teams. Hawaii is barely above average--and wouldn't be that without Brennan. They look better than they are because going into last week they had the worst strength of schedule in the country.
