We have played Danville the last five years and while athlete wise we match up closer to them our players have gotten used to playing a marquee program. I am really looking forward to this matchup of contrasting styles. And yes we know your alls QB and no 12 can flat out fly.All you Beechies have a safe trip.

Thanks Pigman, We are actually fans of each other, meaning we read other threads and see the post all year, and that is part of the fun the website provides. I often read a post on other threads, laugh and think to myself I can't wait to see the response so and so will post. Really we all have several common bonds our state, our schools, our kids, and I definately enjoy the time we spend each week giving our two cents worth. Thanks for the respect and good luck.:thumb:

What happened yrs ago is relevant. It started in '84 w/the first championship team and escalated in the '90's. When these kids are in elementary, they see the high school players and student body getting excited this time of yr. Remember, they are housed under one roof. Coming up thru the elementary they begin to see what it is all about, how to win and lose. They see the disappointment when the team loses and it does transpire down from the Sr's to the kindergarten kids. They all realize what is going on and get real excited. It is almost expected of the team to be in the position they are in each and every yr. They work very hard, as other teams do, to be playing in the semi's to get to the big show. Not one Beechwood player wants to be remembered as the team who did not win a state championship. Unfortunately, they have a tremendous amount of pressure put on them and they all handle it very well because as Freshman they learn how to win and they expect to win no matter who they are playing. Call it an attitude but you better have an attitude on Friday night when you line up across from an opponent who wants to knock you block off. It's not arrogance or being conceded, it's pride in yourself and calling yourself a brother to the rest of your teammates. Pride, Brotherhood and Unity forever!!

 

This will be a good game, I think, but obviously I am pulling for the Tigers.

 

 

Actually Unc, the tradition began back in 74 with coach Fred Mariani. That is when the FIRST Tiger team went down state (lost). From 74-91, Beechwood had very very good football teams Coach Barre (1975-90). Though we only went down state twice before that, the strong tradition was well under way.

Just had the opportunity to see some game film on Frankfort. Very impressive speed at skill positions, good cut back ability with the QB. But tell me if Im wrong and I am sure you will, they seem to improv every play, with the exception of one guy, the O-line looks like spectators, one push and they are done. The Panthers are lucky to have the talent they do in the backfield, cause it doesnt seem to be able to count on the guys up front. What I saw on D was just about the same, the dbs looked intense and in position, the line is either not well coached or were getting tossed out of position by a line that did not seem to dominate them in size. I wish you the best come this Friday, IMO even with "Franfort Speed" the Tigers O and D lines will dictate pace and outcome.

frankfort does have speed...we all know that, but the thing about their line is they cannot match up size wise with the Tigers. Their one plus though is they fire off the ball, which if beechwood doesn't tomorrow night, there may be a sad, sad team in fort mitchell. But I think the Tigers have what it takes and will put it all on the line friday and pull out the victory. The game will start close, but beechwood will come out on top.

CoachB, you know I stand behind my Panther friends 100%, just trying to spark the flame so I can hear Morgan and Weaver say alright I like to hear people say we're going to lose, especially you, that way we can look over at you during the game when we're up and be like they dont want it.

I will agree to disagree, in the late 70's BHS was not any good, sorry. Things really got going in the mid 80's and progressed from there.

 

Who knows, I may be as old if not older and maybe was very close to the situation myself??

I really wish I could be there for this game. Frankfort is a great team and Foley is a great coach. I agree with whomever said High has been knocking on the door the last few years and that it's their turn.

I also have seen film...I noticed this as well...at one point they are blocking on the backside and hit their man and just watch the running back do his work...not good, not good
