A terrible way to start the morning by reading this news. I knew Joe's time would come soon, but I was hoping he could be voted into the HOF before his passing. RIP Joe. You gave me many years of memories. :cry:

I was getting ready for work and the FOX new's had a little special on him and the last thing I heard before turning it off was the old saying in a cracking voice since this was Joe's last broadcast, "The old left hander rounding third and heading for HOME". Joe you finally made it and I hope you rest in peace you deserve it. JD

I definitely remember the end of his final season when with his voice cracking he said "For the last time this is the old left hander rounding third and heading for home"

 

Like JD said, they played that one again this morning on FOX19, still brings a tear to my eye just as it did then.

 

I met Joe a couple of times and he was one of those people who just had a presence, he lifted those around him no matter where he was or what he was doing.

 

Just a GREAT man.

 

He will be sorely missed!
