RIP Joe. Thanks for the memories.

 

As MCPapa stated, the Old Lefthander is finally home.

This is sad news my Dad always talked about him and Marty and Cawood.

Very sad news.....

 

MLB, Reds and the Cincinnati community, has lost a baseball icon. He was one of the best.

While I spent my formative years listening to Chuck Thompson broadcast Orioles games, for folks growing up around here, could there have been anything better on a warm summer evening than sitting out on the porch and listening to Marty and Joe?

He was the man. RIP Joe.

Thoughts and prayers to Joe's family.

This may not be the proper form for this, but I know a lot of us listened to Joe, as did our kids over the years and as far as this baseball fan is concerned, we have lost one of the best.

 

The ole left hander will be missed.

Wow as someone said, this is terrible news to start off a morning. I know I loved listening to him and Marty announce Reds games when I was growing up. He was a great man, and will definitely be missed! I know I was hoping he really would be around long enough to be able to be inducted into the hall of fame. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family! This just a sad day now. May you RIP Joe! :cry:

I had the honor of serving on a scholarship committee with Mr. Nuxhall for a short number of years. Even though we only met twice a year and he had no reason to remember me from Adam, whenever I ran into Joe anywhere, he always had a smile, a handshake and a kind word. He was an amazingly gracious and charitable man and we are a better town, region and baseball is a better sport for his having been a part of each. We will truly miss Joe Nuxhall.

RIP to the ole left hander

This is very sad news:cry:, the Reds have lost a valued member of "the family" and ALL true Cincinnati Fans have lost a friend.

I grew up listening to "Marty and JOE" on the radio. Nuxy to me was an absolute icon. Joe along with Marty Brennaman are/were THE BEST baseball broadcasters anywhere, bar none - NO ONE else in the country even came close.

On that same line most of us grew up listening to the late, great Cawood Ledford on U.K. broadcasts as well. Cawood was another that could never be matched by anyone ...anywhere, absolutely the best.

It's a sad day!!

A terrible way to start the morning by reading this news. I knew Joe's time would come soon, but I was hoping he could be voted into the HOF before his passing. RIP Joe. You gave me many years of memories. :cry:
