Residents of certain neighborhoods who requested their children be rezoned to the new Cooper High lost their battle. They feel that Boone County High School offers a sub-standard education as compared to Cooper. Ugly.

How do they know what the quality of education will be at Cooper if they haven't even opened their doors yet?
November 9, 200718 yr Author How do they know what the quality of education will be at Cooper if they haven't even opened their doors yet? New buildings?
November 9, 200718 yr New buildings? And won't they be pulling teachers from Boone County to occupy those new buildings?

November 10, 200718 yr My house is in the affected area and I would think this would decrease my property value in the 5 to 10% range. It has nothing to do with any teachers, it has everything to do with Boone County being a near inner city school and Cooper/Ryle being near silver spoon schools.

But what is so bad about Florence to label it that? People are acting like its Clifton.
November 10, 200718 yr But what is so bad about Florence to label it that? People are acting like its Clifton. Florence isn't "bad," but about 50% of the residents in Florence are renters vs. Union where the average house is probably close to 250K.
November 10, 200718 yr Boone County High has the stigma of being an inner city school, even though it is located within a very wealthy county and city. Whether that stereotype has any merit or not, many people believe it true, which I assume is the reason behind this article.

Have you ever been to OTR, Walnut Hills, Fairmont, Lower Price Hill? Thats inner city. Nothing in Boone County even resembles inner city...
November 10, 200718 yr When I was in Northern KY, Boone Co. was THE school and Conner was the little brother. Boone would win in athletics, had great academics... Oh how things must have changed. The opening of Ryle must have really hurt Boone's high dollar population. I'm still going to have to agree with the above posters who say that there is nothing even remotely resembling an "inner city" in the entire county...

Living where I do in Boone County (I live closer to Conner and Cooper in mileage and drive time) I have heard from others in my community, that sales haven't been made when buyers found out that they are in Boone and not Ryle, Conner, or new Cooper district.... All districting is being done so that the $$$ for Boone County HS is the same as the other schools and the Board of Education doesn't give a rat's if you have to travel farther to school or not.....Can't understand why all those that choose to live in the City of Florence, don't attend the HS school in the City of Florence!
