When I was in Northern KY, Boone Co. was THE school and Conner was the little brother. Boone would win in athletics, had great academics... .

Not in the fall of 1980.;)

So am I understanding correctly that people who BOUGHT houses that were in the BCHS zone are now COMPLAINING that they have to go to that school still? You'll pardon me if I fail to see their gripe.

I do find it funny that they try to play both sides "oh, its not about the education " and then say "BCHS hurts my home value." Why do they think their home values are hurt? Because they BELIEVE and others BELIEVE that the BCHS education is less valuable. What else could it be?

I was a young pup, but I remember... Go Cougars.:thumb:

They just need to not whine about it and work a little harder and it will all be okay.:D

Is there a map of the new district lines anywhere online? I heard from someone the other day saying that they can see Cooper from their backyard, and it's in walking distance, but they are in Boone County's district. I'm assuming he lives in one of these communities that are complaining. As for him, he didn't care as his kid wanted to stay at Boone.

I am pretty sure that everywhere along Longbranch Rd. was Ryle district prior to Cooper being built. I had some friends who lived a stone's throw from the new school and they all went to Ryle.

Schools seem to be changing alot over the past few years. I know I've heard that drugs are a much bigger problem at my old HS now than they were 5 years ago. Apparently it's not just pills and marijuana that's benig passed around the halls.

Boone does have a diverse group of kids, more so than most of the other schools in NKY.

Where I live, we have been in and out of the Conner School District I think twice since 1983 and we were in the Conner District when I purchased my home . All of the kids (who btw have kids of there own now) who used to live on my street way back when, all graduated from Conner. So don't tell me about playing both sides of the street :irked:. What do you think the school board has been doing for years.....while trying to keep an a level playing field ($$$$) at all the HS....What they have been doing is moving boundaries left and right and they will tell you, that where you go to school today, doesn't mean that is where you will go to school later.

BTW I would much prefer to have a Burlington mailing address simply because it is easier to get to the post office in Burlington, than to fight the traffic to the Florence Post office. Like Guru told you, there are plenty who live in Florence but have a Union mailing address, and they don't complain at all about it......

They just want an even funding field for all schools I think.

I guess it is worth saying. I want my property value to be the best it can be but I am not upset by all of this. I don't think the Boone County school system is out to get anyone, they are just trying to do what they see is best for everyone involved. And finally, I agree with ladiesbballcoach's attempt at a funny comment above, nothing is going to stand in the way of my wife and I doing what is best for our children which means we will move (work harder) if need be.

I'd just move to Ft. Thomas...:fire:

Agree with the bolded....

Nothing stood in our way either to get what we thought was best for our daughter. She received an outstanding education, and is now extremly happy and doing well at MSU... All of this could have been done at Boone, but it worked out very well for her.....at NDA....
