I don't think this is accurate. Dixie has been playing football since teams wore leather helmets.

 

Also they have been in the playoffs every year since at least 98 and have gone to the regional final more than once.

Back in the leather helmet days, hardly anyone made the playoffs . Holmes was very good under Coach Ellis so I'm guessing they had a lot of appearances as well as Newport.

I'm just trying to paint a more colorful picture thru my Rose colored glasses for the rest of my Dixie brethren.

Dixie plays their best football in the playoffs, not in week 3 or 4. If they can live up to half the hype going into this season, I'm going to look like a genius come 10:00 PM on Friday night.

 

The play of Benson and the DB's are going to be big key's for our success this week. If the LB's do their jobs and don't take themselves out of position we will controll the line of scrimmage. Our OLB's and DB's need to get on the same page and for pete's sake, don't let recievers behind you on 3rd and LONG! If we do that and play our game, we win IMO.

Hard to bet against CovCath this time of year but I think Dixie pulls it off on a very tight game.

St. Charles would get waxed by quite of few of the teams Dixie played. And besides We BEAT NCC in the Super Bowl already once this year. Boone, Ryle, SK and CC are quality teams, not to mention in class 6A. We've also played Beechwood and CCH once too, or did you forget about that. I concede that your schedule was tougher, but we didn't exactly play WV's JV team all year either.

I t's settled. CCH and HHS have nothing to fear then.

 

In light of this overwhelming logic I suggest that they both take the week off. Next week too if need be.

As much as I would like to give this line of reasoning credence, I think that drawing conclusions from these two teams first meetings are meaningless. Both squads have improved, but the difference IMO is that Dixie is finally playing like most of us knew they could from day one. With that said, I think that it would be a fair statement to say that prior to the first snap of the season most HHS and CCH supporters were saying that Dixie was the team to beat this year in our district. Now I realize that results from the regular season will change most people's opinions and rightly so, but Dixie and CCH are EXACTLY where I said they would be. The Blue Colonels may be planing on riding on the back of BB but we have MM, and he ain't too shabby either.

 

Bottom line.... Dixie will win the rematch, though not by as much.

There's a difference between improving and getting key players back. They improve that much more.

 

I'm on the fence on who I want to win. HHS grad and a team that we traditionally handle in the playoffs (Which means nothing, really) or CCH. There's nothing better for a Bluebird than to win a state title and knocking off the blue Colonels on the way...

I don't remember the leather helmet day's however, I do remember the suspension helmet with the rope and straps were the inside of helmets. Dixie had good teams in the 70's and I thought they were in the playoff's back then. Was Charlie Fugazzi, Dave Henderson, O'tools all in the playoffs in the 70's. Well I have to take Dixie in this game after watching them the last two week's as Coach Spritzkey and staff have them ready to play. Good Luck Dixie Colonel's. JD
