Joker: Curtis Pulley is the best player on our team

Featured Replies

Casey never played a down of college football. Last I heard, he still lives in Paducah.

I heard he worked on one of the boat yards or something? It really is a shame, that dude had it all, except smarts, I've heard he was borderline slow with a learning disorder and I heard he was just lazy in the classroom... I had the privelage to see him play 3 times his SR year, and he was by far the best HS RB I've ever seen, I still dont see how that PT didnt win state that year, with him, Cantwell, Hamilton as 3 D1 players and a I think there may have been another that played D1 but his name escapes me

Does Johnson not come back next year?

Steve came as a JUCO transfer so only had this year and last year unfortunately.

I'm very interested to see how this QB race goes in the offseason.

I don't think Pulley is anywhere near the QB most everyone else does, but I hope he is.

I'm with you, but I sure hope I'm wrong. I just can't see him being a prototype QB like Woodson...however, if Joker tweaks his system and tries to use him more like Dennis Dixon (Oregon) or Pat White (West Virginia), by running the spread option with the plethora of RB's UK has, then it seems more possible. And, I think Joker is the type of OC that will play to his strenghts rather than try to force what he's got into a cut-and-dried system.

You could write a novel about Casey's life ... the kid's been through and done a lot.

Boyle County was the better team, especially in the trenches ... that's where the game was won.

Joker has said in the past that the offense would stay predominately the same, with some new wrinkles depending on the QB. It was basically a reference to Pulley, but this is what he has said. Now THAT is probably "coach speak". I dont agree that this would be. Saying he is one of the best players would be "coach speak." Saying he is THE best. I hate to say it but that is just stupid.

He may be the best athlete on the team, but I don't see him being much of a passer.

I feel compelled to respond to this with something people arent thinking about. While he wasnt really a talented passer when he came to UK, most of us havent seen the kid throw in the ball in about 2 years. It's really hard to make a judgment on his arm right now.

I agree with him being maybe the best athlete but I'm not sold on him as a dropback decision making QB like Woodson. I think the WVU offense is a great point with the inexperience we are going to have at WR and the stable of backs. We should have a very athletic backfield with him in there so it will be interesting to see if we play to that strength. KY has done a great job thus far building around what they have.

I've always felt Pulley should play defense ... the guy could be an NFL safety.

Here ist he thing two years ago how many of us was sold on Woodsons decision making? I know I wasnt he was the worse.

Good point. Time with Sanders and Phillips will make Curtis a MUCH better QB.

The summer before Curtis Pulley's freshman year, I got to see him spin it and it was atrocious. The ball did not spin.....it quacked.

I have seen him work in practice since then and he has made tremendous strides of improvement. I think the fans will see next year that he is an adequate passer and an outstanding runner. He will not be asked to make the throws from the pocket as much as Andre Woodson has successfully done during his time at UK. Curtis Pulley will spend most of his time outside the pocket.

I'd be more inclined to believe him if he said it somewhere besides Hopkinsville....

Will Pulley be a junior or senior next season?
