No he cant play until the Baltimore game. However he has been allowed to start practicing now with the team..

Some random thoughts:

 

* I love how Mr. Johnson goes all over the place explaining why he isn't part of the problem and then drops two big passes. Talk > walk.

 

* I'm not as down on Jonathan Josephn and Hall as most others. Yes, they make some crucial mistakes, however, they are benefitted with ZERO pass rush. It is unfair to ask anyone to guard NFL WR's that long, especially first and second year players.

 

* When your best player in the front 7 was waived by a 1-7 (or thereabouts) team it is a bad sign. Schlegel played pretty well yesterday.

 

* I've been saying what was said about Justin Smith for years on here. Gets blown up at the LOS and then uses his "motor" to run down the play. Nice, but not necessarily what you're looking for. He just gets man-handled on running plays and gets no pressure on passing plays. Super.

 

* I had them 1-6 at this point when I did my pre-season run-down, I missed the Baltimore Monday night game. I still think they'll get to 6-10.

 

* Hanging the loss on kicking the field goal is a joke. Ridiculous. Wrong call? Maybe. Hardly was the reason they lost.

 

* The defense gives up more long drives than any defense I can remember. How many plays per game does the defense create where the offense loses yards? Virtually no sacks and virtually no runs stuffed behind the line.

 

* Dexter Jackson couldn't beat LBBC in a 40 yard dash this morning. I'm not exaggerating. Where was Ndukwe (sp?) yesterday? He's been a consistent performer this year, when given a chance. Was he hurt and I missed it?

Anyone hear Marvin 2nd guess his decision to go for the FG? I think someone needs to explain the game to him, he doesn't seem to understand it. Also who is responsible for making sure they actually have 11 men in on D? Some one upstairs? Hello! Can we count to 11, and if we can, how about a timeout there. You just can't let that happen. From top to bottom, one of the most inept franchises in the league. Anyone know the Bengals overall record from the point where Mr. Brown (Paul) retired?

A few observations from attending my first professional football game at Paul Brown Stadium and my son's first professional football game ever.

 

* My son is a Steelers fans and the fans for the most part in section 128, rows 1-5 were pretty good. One guy let a few words out, I asked him to notice my son sitting there and he was great the rest of the game. Then there was a young man standing right behind me who was an idiot. Talk later about him.

 

* How can you have a DL/LB (I think it was henderson #93) matched up across the line against Hines Ward with the ball on the 13? We sat there and called that play. What a mismatch. Ward made him look stupid. Ball on the 1 or 2 at that point.

 

* Is it just football or the alcohol that limits a football fans vocabulary to only 3 adjectives/adverbs. Horrible, Suck and one that I won't mention on here. That was it. All comments to the officials, players or coaches contained one, combination or all of these descriptive terms.

 

* Fun line, "Bengals, you give suck a bad name." That was creative.

 

* Game went much faster than it does at home. The 3 hours of gametime seemed to fly past and before we knew it 5 minutes left in the game.

 

* My son felt the field looked smaller than it does on television.

 

* We were surprised on the # of Steelers fans there.

 

* That is a long time between punts/kickoffs and putting the ball in play offensively.

 

* The jets were cool at the beginning of the game.

 

* There is always one fan. He wouldn't stop with the big bomb word throughout the game. The fans around us that weren't with us even asked him to watch his language and show class and he didn't. Cheered for Hines Ward to break his leg with my 11-year old son wearing a Hines Ward jersey. He complained from 10 minutes before the game to the end. The Steelers can't win without referees giving it to them. Swore up and down that a Steelers OL moved 2 SECONDS early on the long pass play. I don't think he has a clue on how LONG 2 seconds actually is. Coaching sucked, players sucked, never draft someone from Michigan, and on and on and on and on. Why go do something for 3 hours that obviously makes you feel so bad and so unhappy? Do us a favor and stay home.

 

* Do you think the cheerleaders get a quantity discount for the makeup they wear?

 

* Marvin should have gone for it on both 4 and 1's. He has lost confidence in the team and a downward spiral is staring them right in the face.

 

* At one point, he said that he couldn't see the Steelers marching down to score that quickly. Does he watch the tapes of his team's defense?

 

* And one more I am going to start as a thread. (For those Chad lovers, it is about a problem on this team and does not include CHAD. Make sure you notice that this is not blaming everything on him.)

 

* All and all, great day with my son. Went to early church, had lunch, went to the game, hung out and he got to see his favorite Steelers player put up continued HOF numbers against the Bengals, had some good father/son talks about how stupid getting drunk makes you and why you can have fun and be upset without having to pull out vulgar language, met some new great guys, and made a special memory with my son. Thanks to those in the 128 section, first 5 rows for helping to do this. Even the young guy who gave me a great example to show my son on how NOT to conduct yourself.

Suprised no one has commented on the major gaffe by the Bengals on Wards 1st TD reception.

 

And they still haven't. Bengals only had 10 men on the field. That is completely unacceptable. If I was a Bengals fan I would completely outraged. How does this happen in professional football? Of course I could be wrong and the new 10 men defensive formation may be some new fomration in the Bengals defense. This is Marvin Lewis a so-called defensive guru.

 

On behalf of Steelers fans everywhere thank you, Mediocre Marvin, for continuing the fine tradition of Bungle futility. We hope you are given a long term extension for an inordinate amount of money. I may even write a nice letter to the Rooney's on your behalf to see if they can help pay your salary in any way. We wish you luck in running the "new" 10 man defense the remainder of the season. :jump:

 

I don't know who is Carson Plamer's agent, but if he isn't working on a deal to get him out of Cincinnati Carson needs to fire him. Palmer is too classy a person and too good of a Quarterback to be stuck in orange and black stripes the rest of his career.

Sounds like you had an awesome time! I have great memories of my Dad doing the same for me several times. Trust me when I say they will stick with your son forever long after your gone and he will do the same for his sons. :thumb:

He actually said something about that. As we walked back to the car, passed Great American, I asked him which he liked best the Reds' games or the Bengals' games. He quickly said Reds' games but then followed it up with "I am going to have take my son to football and baseball games too."

 

We had a great week. Watched each of the WS games together, had 3 basketball practices that I coached him in, went to a Deer Hunting dinner and then the football game.

I recall that lineup from last week, but Johnson and Jeanty both played yesterday. And Jeanty hasn't really played all year, so that didn't really help having him back.

It was a pretty cool sight. About 30 minutes later, they flew back over the house. I thought they would've came from Wright Patterson, but I guess not.

I thought Jeanty but the know-it-all behind me loudly corrected me that it was Henderson and if I didn't know my football, don't make a comment. I laughed and told my son too much beer makes you and idiot.

 

They must have landed at Wright or NKY airport as they introduced the pilots at halftime from somewhere in NC. As a true blue UK fan, I felt the need to boo them, being from UNC and Duke country, but my patriotism took over and we cheered.:lol:

I REALLY hope they are smart enough to use it on somebody on the defensive front (DL or LBer)!
