October 28, 200718 yr Atleast we can be optimistic every week about getting a high draft pick... IMO they would screw that up as well.
October 28, 200718 yr We are a bad football team no question about it. Seems like we got screwed on a few calls. Holmes catch and Big Ben intentional grounding. They give really crappy replays at the game so it was hard to tell. Was it a catch? I am officially on the fire Marvin bandwagon. I saw nothing that would cause me to overturn the Holmes catch. What is the wording of the grounding rule?
October 28, 200718 yr The Bengals will start getting it back together with their injured crew getting better. Chris Henry will be a huge addition in two weeks. The schedule really starts lightening up with Buffalo, Baltimore, Arizona, and Tennesse in November. The final four games in December are St. Louis 0-8, SF 2-5, Cleveland 4-3, Miami 0-8 (6-24 combined). They still have a decent shot at 6, 7, or 8 wins. Just enough to give the faithful some hope for '08 and sliding down the draft charts...
October 28, 200718 yr Author I saw nothing that would cause me to overturn the Holmes catch. What is the wording of the grounding rule? 1. Intentional grounding of a forward pass is a foul: loss of down and 10 yards from previous spot if passer is in the field of play or loss of down at the spot of the foul if it occurs more than 10 yards behind the line or safety if passer is in his own end zone when ball is released. 2. Intentional grounding will be called when a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage due to pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion. 3. Intentional grounding will not be called when a passer, while out of the pocket and facing an imminent loss of yardage, throws a pass that lands at or beyond the line of scrimmage, even if no offensive player(s) have a realistic chance to catch the ball (including if the ball lands out of bounds over the sideline or end line). nfl.com
October 28, 200718 yr Marvin is taking alot of heat and will take alot of heat this week for that goal line decision...
October 28, 200718 yr My blown Red Flag award goes to Leon Hall, who's antics convinced Marvin Lewis that Holmes' catch was dropped. Chad Johnson gets the "Look Ma, No Hands" award for 2 important throws that bounce off his chest. Great first drive for CJ. After that, no so much. He seems to be getting a bit skittish when he's not on the fly or the sideline. When you're struggling like the Bengals, you can't have a dropped ball end a drive and another drop negate a home run play.
October 28, 200718 yr Author "That's why they're 5-2 and we're 2-5," Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh said. "Good teams put it in the end zone. Teams like us kick field goals." ________ Trailing 14-3, the Bengals drove to a fourth-and-1 from just inside the 2-yard line with 2:16 left. They needed only about 2 more feet to get the first down, and initially looked like they would flex some muscle and go for it. Lewis called a timeout to talk it over. Then, he sent out the field goal unit. His players were stunned. "It's like telling a kid he can have some candy and then saying, 'Um, not right now,'" Houshmandzadeh said. "In hindsight, we probably should have gone for it," Lewis said. ________ "The frustrating part is that we're sitting here 2-5," said a glum Palmer, who was 23-of-31 for 205 yards. "I never would have guessed it. I never would have thought it."
October 28, 200718 yr At 2-5 and a thoroughly disgusted season ticket holder  I will not even be able to sell my tickets for the remaining home games :madman: Not that my wife or son will allow me to anyways, so I'll just let them go and I'll find something better to do on Sundays! When does college basketball start!

Just enough to give the faithful some hope for '08 and sliding down the draft charts... Buffalo at Buffalo I don't bet on the Bengals in that one.-W? Balt at Balt- Loss Arizona- Bolden, Fitzgerald, James Possible loss but at home so a W Tenn. they must be doing something right- loss St Louis - W SF loss Cleveland , no reason to think the Bengals win but lets say they get lucky W Miami W You didn't list Pitt at Pitt definite loss So lets see. I put Miami and St Louis as wins, but I will think the Bengirls will lose one of those. So my optimistic prediction for the final 9 games is 4-5 finishing at 6-10. Not really what I had figured preseason. What a huge disappointment this team has become.
