October 27, 200718 yr In 3 of the last 4 weeks Mississippi State had USC, UT and WVU... Florida and LSU are on different levels compared to WVU and UT. Granted those three games aren't easy either. I think it's pretty obvious that UK overlooked Miss St. At no point did UK look like they were a more physical team on either side of the ball. It was letdown city.
October 27, 200718 yr Cats didn't come out ready to play today and Miss. State smacked them in the mouth. There was nothing positive that came out of this game. Off week is welcomed.

VA and White and Slaton isn't easy. Correct they are no LSU or UF, but they are a very good football team.

But MSU didn't battle those teams like UK battled LSU and UF... Don't misunderstand that as making an excuse, there is no excuse for the way UK played today. Plain and simple...
October 27, 200718 yr No team ever needed a bye week more than UK does. They are really banged up right now. It's difficult to take guys like Burton, Lyttle, Dixon out of the lineup, and then have to also play with a gimpy Locke, and win a game agaist a better-than-the-record-shows team like Mississippi State. The radio guys said, before the game started, that you had to get up early on them like West Virginia did last week, because it forces them to play a catch up style that they don't like. Today the Bulldogs were in control all day and forced the Cats to play their game.
October 27, 200718 yr Its just unfortunate because at the beginning of the year I think most viewed this one as a very winnable game. Guess you have to take the good with the bad though.
October 27, 200718 yr Injuries IMO are a lame excuse for the way the cats played today… I don’t care where you are on the depth chart it doesn’t make it acceptable to fumble, run bad routes, arm tackle and blow coverage…

The injuries and lack of depth for the first time this year took its toll on UK accompanied by way too many mental mistakes.

October 27, 200718 yr UK needed the bye week to be this week. You just can't go USC, LSU, and Florida and expect to come away from those line of teams healthy. Back in the day, there was no such thing as a bye week! How in the world did those players play a whole season without getting a week off??

The injuries and lack of depth for the first time this year took its toll on UK accompanied by way too many mental mistakes. Good post....I agree. And injuries do make a difference if they are to key players, and Burton, Lyttle, Dixon, and Locke are key players. The Gator's Tebow today does not look like the same Tebow that played UK last week, and it's probably due to his sore shoulder. He's not running the ball against UGA very much, which has to change their offensive strategy. It makes a difference.

They also had UAB in that stretch and probably only had to play WVU starters for 3 qtrs.:thumb: Look Kentucky mades a ton of mistakes that if they had not happened UK had a shot to win the game. But I think that it also hurt not having Kenaan Burton, Micah Johnson, Rafael Little, Marcus McClinton (for a half), and Paul Warford. Watching coverage of the game the announcers mentioned how beat up UK was and listed the players who were out like twice. Also, your not going to beat too many teams making the mistakes we made.
