October 19, 200718 yr Instant Replay over stepped the line last night in this game. When did they start using instant replay to catch penalties. Even though I think the call was correct. Part of the fun is the human element. So now do we check every play to catch all penalties? The real question is how in the world did NONE of the officials throw a flag BOTH times they batted it forward.
October 19, 200718 yr SEC is on top right now... college football has been moving in 5 year waves How about Florida's runner up in 95 and championship in 96 and Tennessee's runner up in 97 and championship in 98 along with Alabama's championship in 92? The SEC has been on top for the last 15 years.
October 19, 200718 yr Jim Levitt has been doing OK against Urban. From what I hear, he recruits with the same passion you see on the sideline. He's built this program from nothing to this in 11 years. He has been building a foundation and the school is behind him. Every year they have been better than the year before. This ain't no flash in the pan. I have a feeling this isn't the last time you see the Bulls in the top 5 and a National Championship game could be closer than you think. :thumb: I personally enjoyed seeing USF rise to the top, and I think that Levitt is doing a good job. This year should definitely help his recruiting int he rich talent state.
October 19, 200718 yr Says a lot that the #2 in the nation is playing on a Thursday. Can't resist taking a Big East swipe, can you?
October 19, 200718 yr Can't resist taking a Big East swipe, can you? I'm not taking a shot at the Big East, but there's no way in the world that South Florida is the #2 team in the nation.
October 19, 200718 yr USF can play with anyone in the country. They must be hurting both Miami and Florida St. in recruiting when you consider their rise and the decline of the other two.
October 19, 200718 yr Can't resist taking a Big East swipe, can you? Whether you like Thursday night football or not, most would have to agree that it has been very good publicity for the Big East teams and has helped build that conference back up to the level they now play at.

Part of the fun is the human element. So now do we check every play to catch all penalties? Since when does the ref in the booth call penalties. I ran that play back at least 20 times. If you look close the defenders hand knocks the ball into the runners leg and the ball goes forward.

Part of the fun is the human element. So now do we check every play to catch all penalties? Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to check penalties on instant replay, but at the same time the most important thing is that they get it right. That was complete crap that none of the refs called what was blatantly obvious. Think about what would have happened had they not overturned that. It would have been 24-10 with around 4 minutes left in the first half. The momentum would have been completely shifted to USF and I don't think Rutgers would have recovered.
October 19, 200718 yr Since when does the ref in the booth call penalties. I ran that play back at least 20 times. If you look close the defenders hand knocks the ball into the runners leg and the ball goes forward. You can't seriously believe that? If I look closely on both occasions what I see is a South Florida player thrusting the ball forward. Seriously, how often do you see that many fumbles on a return, and how many times do you see fumbles that fortuitous?
October 19, 200718 yr I'm not taking a shot at the Big East, but there's no way in the world that South Florida is the #2 team in the nation. I really don't think so either but with 9 of the top 10 ranked teams gettijg beat within the last few weeks who are you going to put there? I beleive that all will work out in the rankings the rest of the way in this season. Most if not all teams are getting into the "meat" of their schedule and the better teams will rise to the top. I don't think that USF was a #2 team either but I would have had to put them there with everything else that happened with the top teams losing.
October 19, 200718 yr 2 times within a week instant replay has been used poorly, but hey it helps the cats so how much can I complain.
October 19, 200718 yr I think that it's because in the minds of many on this board anyone who isn't in the $EC should never be considered as a national championship contender. Not me. USF beat a pretty good Auburn team at Auburn. I think they are a very good team. I kind of hated to see this, ... I like to root for the underdog (maybe it comes from being an avid UK football fan all these years and I am used to it). I just think the parity in CFB is awesome and adds a lot of excitement to the game, .. as if it needed it! All we need now is a PLAYOFF system!
