I think that it's because in the minds of many on this board anyone who isn't in the $EC should never be considered as a national championship contender.

 

:sleep: When some match the tradition and history of the SEC then you may have point. I am not slamming the big east all all but to compare them or any other for that matter with the SEC to me is laughable.

 

Do they automatically deserve ticket to play in the NC? ....No. More often than not they deserve to have and get a team in it (N.C. game) by their play on the field.

I'm not taking a shot at the Big East, but there's no way in the world that South Florida is the #2 team in the nation.

 

By the same token, you could argue there is no way in the world Ohio St. is the best team in the nation. So where does that leave us?

Says a lot that the #2 in the nation is playing on a Thursday.

He must've forgot that his Wildcats lost on a THURSDAY night just a couple of weeks ago.

You can't seriously believe that? If I look closely on both occasions what I see is a South Florida player thrusting the ball forward. Seriously, how often do you see that many fumbles on a return, and how many times do you see fumbles that fortuitous?

 

I just find it hard to beleive that the players are taught to intentionally fumble the ball forward. Players are taught to recover the ball. Maybe I'm wrong and they are teaching players to fumble the ball intentionally forward. I could understand to do that if it was the last play of the game.

Very good football game to watch.

IMO if UL beats USF, they'll also beat WVU and Rutgers, making them the champs again.

As for this thread, I think this is more proof of how tough the Big East is. I expected USF to lose at some point this year, but up until last night, they were, IMO, underrated. They have two wins (@ Auburn and WVU) that were far more impressive than anything Ohio State has done. It just shows how much trouble the pollsters have ranking someone outside of the elite programs #1...if any program with a decent reputation had the resume of USF this year, they would have easily been rated #1 ahead of OSU.

 

As for USF, their season is far from finished...they still have a great chance to win the Big East, and the way this season is going, I wouldn't be so sure that the loss last night ruined their national title hopes. They'd definitely need some help, but this looks like the type of season where help may very well come.

I was really disappointed in USF this game. The offense couldn't sustain a good drive for anything, and the defense was tackling like UofL. Great win for Rutgers but I can't stand them, I pray they don't make the BCS/Gator Bowl this.
