Sonic - any good?

Featured Replies

Business wise its a great location. Now, if they'd just improve the facilitation of traffic all would be well. It's not just the Sonic parking lot that is a mess traffic wise, its everywhere on that road. It desperately needs to be widened. Traffic there in the morning, afternoon, and evening is just utter chaos. I've said for the last 5 years that they needed to build more resteraunts and the like on Mt. Zion, not a lot of selection there and a good base to draw from.

That's the problem. I refuse to drive down Mt. Zion just to get food. It takes 30 minutes to get by 75 if you go between 5 and 7. Just as many people would be line up at it if it were on 42 near Kroger, plus they could actually get to it. I know they are widening the road, but not for years, plus the Sonic would have to suffer through the construction drag.

There is nothing like a Route 44 Cherry Limeade during happy hour for like $1.15...They are very good. The food is decent, but nothing special!

"Take that weak tot action 'outa here. You go strong to your mouth or don't go at all".:lol:

Has anyone ever eaten at a Sonic before? And are they that good? One just opened up off the Mt. Zion exit 2 weeks ago, and the place is always packed. They actually have to have an extra employee standing at the entrance turning people away as traffic backs up and sits on the main road.

Nothing special about Sonic, when the one in Paintsville opened, it also backed up traffic for about 4 weeks, then after the newness wore off everyone went back to the old standbys.

Sonic isnt bad. They have really good slushes, shakes, and limeades. Those are the big draws. About the only thing on the menu I like are the chili cheese fries.

As a broke college student in a fraternity, there is no better deal in the world than those 5 burgers for $5 deal.

Never been, there aint one around me:cry:

A little above OK ,Shakes are great !

I like the Bacon Egg and cheese toaster. Their chilli cheese fries are good too.

They just opened up a sonic by where I work at off of Eastgate Blvd. about a month ago but I havent eaten there yet.

I think it would be better if it was in Union, by the Kroger and Skyline on U.S. 42. There actually is a decent amount of places to eat off the Mt. Zion exit. Steak N' Shake, Rallys, Subway, Bobs, Gold Star, Jersey Mikes, Larosas, Margaritas. Just off the top of my head... And I personally, have not eaten at that Sonic just because of the location!

There is plenty of GOOD places to eat along 42 as well. Skyline, Wendy's, McDonalds, Beef O' Brady's, and Subway off the top of my head. Nothing really appetizing for my tastes on Mt. Zion, I don't particularly care for anything on your list except Subway and Larosas. Most of the places on Mt. Zion are not eat in restaurants and IMO are kind of dirty. Those of us that live on the other side of the county are happy to get a place with a drive through that actually takes orders (this means you Steak and Shake).

Agreed about the traffic, it is terrible. 42 was similar before they widened it. I personally like where the location is, that area around Kroger's can be tough to get to from my side of the county. ;)

Are they 24x7?

The chili/cheese tater tots are to die for …

"Yes, carhop, I'll have the heartstopper combo, please!"

I'm a Sonic fan -- got hooked back in the late 80's / early 90's at the one in Bowling Green. Haven't been to the one on Mt. Zion yet because every time I drive by (and am hungry) it is swamped...so Rally's is the beneficiary (although eating a burger and fries from a gas station seems strangely appropriate). I have eaten at the one in Maysville about 4 times in the last 4 months -- love the chili footlong. Ask for extra napkins though.
