Sonic - any good?

Featured Replies

I like Sonic, glad that we have one in NKY now. To me it's just another good choice, and something different.

Business wise its a great location. Now, if they'd just improve the facilitation of traffic all would be well. It's not just the Sonic parking lot that is a mess traffic wise, its everywhere on that road. It desperately needs to be widened. Traffic there in the morning, afternoon, and evening is just utter chaos. I've said for the last 5 years that they needed to build more resteraunts and the like on Mt. Zion, not a lot of selection there and a good base to draw from.

Actually, it's Mt. Zion that's a mess. Sonic sits back off of Sam Neace. They're actually in the process of widening Mt. Zion at the exit ramps. However, the plan to widen all the way to 25 keeps getting pushed back. They actually want to do 5 lanes on 536 all the way across from Boone to Campbell.

I think it would be better if it was in Union, by the Kroger and Skyline on U.S. 42. There actually is a decent amount of places to eat off the Mt. Zion exit. Steak N' Shake, Rallys, Subway, Bobs, Gold Star, Jersey Mikes, Larosas, Margaritas. Just off the top of my head... And I personally, have not eaten at that Sonic just because of the location!

There is somewhat of a selection, but the only place to grab a quick bite is Rally's and Gold Star, and Gold Star isn't the best thing to grab on the move.

As for traffic through there, it's only bad a rush hour. I'm not sure what lunch hour is like during the week though. However, traffic during rush hour when getting off the ramp and going east isn't that bad and it moves pretty well. Now, coming from 25 to the ramp, that is very slow.

I'm a Sonic fan -- got hooked back in the late 80's / early 90's at the one in Bowling Green. Haven't been to the one on Mt. Zion yet because every time I drive by (and am hungry) it is swamped...so Rally's is the beneficiary (although eating a burger and fries from a gas station seems strangely appropriate). I have eaten at the one in Maysville about 4 times in the last 4 months -- love the chili footlong. Ask for extra napkins though.

Sounds like a familiar story. That's when I got hooked on both Sonic and Rally's, which were completely foreign to me at the time. It's also when I discovered Krystal is a very poor substitute for White Castle.

And I thought I said "actually" a lot. Actually, I do. :D
Their footlong chile-cheese dog is pretty good, so are the onion rings.

My favorite.

Also try the tater tots with chili, cheese and jalapeno's added. It's great.

 I catch myself doing that a lot. I'll usually go back and read my post before submitting and realize that I used it way too much. Obviously, I didn't this morning. :D
