Middle School Basketball

Featured Replies

Long weekend with no basketball for the Highlands 7th grade boys. Kickoff this week with R.A JOnes (Boon Co feeder) tonight and Campbell County Purple on Thursday. Word is they are playing in a tournament this weekend at Northern Kentucky University. Anybody have any info on this tourney? Middle school tourney up here.

How'd it go last night? Both Birds girls teams brought home W's last night.

Highlands 7th jumped out to a 21-4 lead over R.A Jones and started emptying the bench. Final score was 39-21 or something like that. R. A Jones needs more than one kid looking to shoot the ball. They had one point guard who all he was worried about was making nifty passes and another boy that looked to score every time. The other 3 kids on the floor not once looked at the basket, even if they had it 4 feet from the goal. These types of games are no good in my opinion. You get no continuity from your first 8 or 9 and it creates sloppy play and lack of motivation. Big Kid Nick True had a bunch of points at the post and the Birds suffered a couple anke injuries to 2 of their better players. I am hoping they return to the lineup for Thursday's game or atleast this weekend. Should be interesting Thurs vs. The CC Purples.

For the Jazz this weekend, I hear they are short on 8th grade teams. I know there is a full amount of teams for 4th grade and 7th grade. Schedule comes out today.

This is a fun tournament out at NKU, glad to hear the 7th grade teams are coming out. Highlands I hear is entering two teams as well they should.

It will be interesting to see if they seperate the school vs AAU as the 7th grade Wolfpack are in it. If not, it will be like Williamstown and the Pack should run away with it.

Maybe the Wolfpack should look for more competitive tournaments for themselves. I agree, it makes no sense for them to play with most school teams.

As they should, its an all star team with kids from all over Kenton/Boone/Campbell Co. They should take their game to Louisville or Lexington and play other AAU teams that are strong around the state. Should be intersting to see if that Wolfpack team steps up and plays Div. 1 instead of Div 2 like they did last season.

You know they have the McGovney kid this year also...

South Laurel Middle won 2-3 from Jackson Co. tonight at Jackson. The 6th grade lost and the 7th and 8th won. Souths 7th grade is now 8-0 on the season after a 66-11 win tonight. South's 8th also won 46-43 over a good Jackson Co. 8th grade squad. They will be at North Laurel Middle this Thursday.

Actually, this Wolfpack team did not exist last year for state. They were still seperate as the Kings, Nets and other teams. However, they did make the Sweet 16 in D2 Nationals and have added even more talent. They are very strong. Looking forward to seeing them play the Ville and the Tar Heels.

Campbell County purple 7th lost a heartbreaker to Pendleton County by two in OT in their regular season opener. I was told the 6th and 8th grade won convincingly.

Where did they play?

Where did they play?

The game was at the Crossroads elementary school. There is one other time this year that they play there instead of the middle school.

I going to assume the gym in the new school is nice. I love what they have done with middle school (old high school) gym. Always liked that gym.

Schedule should be out early this afternoon.
