Some Central Kentucky/Bluegrass Conference results over the past couple of weeks:

7th grade -- Scott County over Royal Spring, Harrison County, Paris & West Jessamine; Royal Spring over East Jessamine and Woodford; Elkhorn over West Jessamine and Georgetown; Madison over Conkwright and Estill; McNabb over Powell County; Clark-Moores over Clark Middle and Bourbon County; Conkwright over Powell.

8th grade -- Royal Spring over Scott County, East Jessamine and Woodford; Georgetown over Elkhorn; Scott County over Harrison County, Paris and West Jessamine; Elkhorn over West Jessamine and Harrison County; East Jessamine over Woodford; Clark-Moores over Georgetown (probably the biggest surprise), Clark Middle and Bourbon County; Madison over Conkwright; Clark Middle over McNabb; McNabb over Powell County; Bourbon County over Estill County; Powell County over Conkwright; Estill over Madison.

7th grade -- The best teams appear to be Scott County, Madison and McNabb.

8th grade -- Top teams are Clark-Moores, Georgetown and Royal Spring with East Jessamine a sleeper.

Will do, I know they have an excellent guard and a pretty good suporting cast. Thankfully the first matchup is at home.

Meece Middle (Somerset) swept Whitley Co. in all three games tonight. The 6th and 8th grade games were blowouts but the 7th grade was competitive. The 6th won by 20+, the 7th won by 11, and the 8th was leading 28-3 when I left. Meece has a rematch with Wayne Co. on Thursday. Meece swept that series last time but I am sure Wayne Co. will come ready to play.

Highlands 7th grade played their best game of the year tonight defeating Woodland 56-40 on the road. Colin Dupont led the way with 15 pts. 25-20 halftime lead but Birds went on a 12-0 run to start the 2nd half and pull away.

Just wanted to add that Woodland Middle School (Scott Feeder) has a really nice player in #4 Jehn. He has a nice handle and can shoot the 3 very well. The Birds 7th were on their game tonight and had 50 points with 5 min left in the game when they started emptying the bench.

Looking forward to the Thursday matchup with Pendleton Co at Highlands.

Yep, most of the kids at Highlands have faced them in summer leagues and have gotten a good taste of Mason Monroe in AAU ball. Im hoping for a competetive game from both squads.

We have played PC 3 times already with our purple team. We are 1-2. It should be interesting to see you guys play. The Monroe kid is a strong player, and he has a strong cast to join him. He and the Strong kid make a good pair.

I was hoping we could get the CC Purples in a rematch but schedule doesnt look that way. We have CC Gold 2 times but not the Purples. Very familiar with STrong as well at PC, he is a battler down low. Highlands is starting to gel and play their game and that is what the coach told the kids in early November. He said that its gonna take 30 days to work out the kinks and then they should be a team to be reckoned with.

7th Grade Pendleton beat Highlands 7th by three tonight. It was a very competitive game with Pendleton pulling it out in the end.

And 7th/8th grade girls beat Highlands in both games. Nice win for the two Ladycat teams.

Highlands 7th grade boys jumped out to 5 pt lead early in the 4th qtr on a big Luke Turner 3 pointer. That basket would be the only one for the Birds as the rim was not kind on several other open looks. Credit to PC for fighting back and hitting the open shots when they needed them. Kudos to #41 the big fella for PC as he made two key 4th qtr baskets.

Players to be mentioned that had nice ballgames, for Highlands, Turner(10pts), Mccoy (12pts), Witte (7pts), True (4pts). Down 1 with 8 seconds left Witte got a nice look from the elbow that went in and out. PC big rebound and Monroe gets fouled, nails both to make the final score 36-33.

For PC, Monroe was their leading scorer in double digits, unsure on total maybe HOOPDR can help out. :) I thought the supporting cast did a nice job tonight as well. Congrats to a fine group of young men. They always bring a big group of fans which is great.

Even though my Birds lost we are happy to see several kids turning the corner and starting to play with confidence. ONce they get Collinsworth and Whitford back in the lineup they will be even better.

I thought the Birds moved the ball well around the perimiter and got some nice looks. The birds led the game from start and till about the 3 minute mark in the 4th quarter the Cats made their run. #41 Zack Smith the big fella made two key baskets that put PC in the lead. I thought the Cats did a nice job shutting down the Birds point guard and only allowing 4 Birds in the scorebook. PC played 10 with 7 getting in the scorebook. Scoring as follows;

Monroe (17) Harper (6) Smith (4) Strong (3) Moore (2) Appelman (2) and Gibson (2). Pyles, Colvin & Knight did not score but played well.

1 2 3 4th

PC 9 17 26 36

Birds 11 22 30 33
