Twenhofel 7th grade shot 12% against Sharp (PC) and only lost by 5. It was ugly.

Shouldve been there for the Highlans/summit View game. I bet there were 35 turnovers between both teams and free throw shooting was atrocious. Its stil early in the season and the HMS boys only have 5 kids who have played together before this season. Most of the other kids are grade school ballers who are getting their first taste of competetive basketball. I think by mid January they will be fine. Without HMS feilding a 6th grade team, it puts them behind most schools across the state who have teams at this grade level. Obviously teams who played together as 6th graders have a full year experience.

Highlands 7th took care of Turkeyfoot 55-30 tonight. 10 different kids scored tonight as the benches were emptied early.

I can assure all of you of one thing, Augusta's 8th grade team has some real talent on their team. Just b/c they are a small school, one of the smallest in the state, doesn't mean they do not know how to play basketball.

PC's 7th grade team plays CC-Gold and the others b/c they are conference games and they have to be played. PC has played their fair share of very good teams over the course of the last 2 seasons. They get Summit View later in the season!

PC 7th grade team handled Blessed Sacrament easily tonight, beating them 48-29 (I believe that was the final). Not much of a game really as PC played a lot of different players!

CC 7th purple beat IHM by around 20 last night (I had to leave early to go to AAU practice). IHM was overmatched across the board. They are a very scrappy team though just undersized.

Unfortunately, the 6th grade purple team didn't hold their end of the bargain up. However, IHM went on a 20 - 0 run with no timeout called or no changes to the defense. The score at the end of the 1st Quarter was 24 - 6. The final was 36 - 30, IHM over purple.

This is what I don't like about middle school basketball. High school coaches complain about AAU being run and gun and only zone. I watch the 6th and 7th grade coaches for purple play run and gun (no offensive sets) and play zone. In the 6th grade game, IHM went to a spread set and the coach, instead of switching from a 2-3 to man, went to a Box and 1???? Where do they get these guys? Why don't high school coaches mandate their middle school coaches to only play man??? Then when players get to high school that haven't played AAU they know how to play defense. I watched our AAU team this entire weekend play man the entire time, except for a total of 2 minutes. One of the unanswered questions of life I guess...

Uh, ok. Nobody said you shouldnt be playing them. My point in an earlier thread was that week for PC seemed like it was a pretty easy week and the Birds had a more grueling schedule. Is that safe to say? We certainly have our share of cupcake games so we all will get a taste of non-competetive games. Those games are actually good for the kids that practice hard and dont get much PT. You work em in early and often.

I see Sharp has Summit View coming up on 1/5 and Holmes twice so that will be a good measuring stick. I expect you all to compete very well as long as you can handle the Holmes pressure and shut down Mcclendon for Summit View. Good Luck.

Twenhofel 6th and 7th beat Holmes pretty solidly last night, not sure on the 8th grade outcome.

Twenhofel sounds pretty legit then. Holmes has a lot of athletes on that 7th grade team. If you make em shoot from the outside and box out as well as take care of the ball on offense you win.

It was about a twenty point game the whole time. The best game twenhofel has played since the CC tourny.

Showdown on Jan 7th between Highlands 7th and Twenhofel out in Independence. That is the next official game for Highlands. Word is they are scrimmaging St. Mary's over the break.

Should be a good game. I don't think Twenhofel has a game before that and will be back to full strength..

The 8th grade Bulldogs defeated Adair County by 12 to improve to 14-3 on the season. The 7th grade Bulldogs won big over Adair County to improve to 10-4. The 6th grade Bulldogs are 18-0, all 3 teams play Northern tomarrow at Pulaski County High School starting at 2:30 EST.
