At Bellevue...as far as the best career I would say David Kiefer ('92). Then probably Nate Berkeley then Tom Kafel.

I'll add my favorites: "Touchdown" Tommy Roberts from the '75 champs along with my boyhood hero, Gary "bombs away" Schrader '72 champs. Michael Holmes from the 80's was a pretty fair QB also.

When in the world did Mike Holmes play QB at HHS. The only Mike Holmes I know of graduated in 86 and I don't remember him playing Qb. Please let me know because that was one of the worst classes in recent memory at HHS. The 85 season was not good if I'm not mistaken. That would have been when he played QB.

Right off hand I would say that Aaron Pettry at Raceland. There have been many good ones but imo Aaron benifited from the spread ofense/passing attack that Raceland now plays and I believe that he still holds the Ky. State pass completion pct. record (72%), he broke T. Couch's record. Most other ones were in a power I, Wishbone or similar run oriented offense. Another one that maybe would have been was Frank Brown (late 70's). Frank sufferred a h.s. carrer ending inuury (broken neck) in a scrimmage before his senior season.

No mention of John Hillman?

That is what I was thinking, John Hillman was a great QB at Russell.

At Conner Trevor Stellman comes to mind back to back 10-0 seasons now the quarterback at Thomas More

I'm guessing on Harlan and Evarts. Some others may go back farther. The other two are pretty easy. Gary Jennings was awfully good, even though he was only at Cawood for one season.

Passing QB- Jonathan Wright (Yes, Belfry ran a spread shotgun offense while Wright was there!)

 

This is no knock on Jon and honestly Jon put up good numbers but if you think he is the best passing QB Belfry has had then you need to speak to some older Belfry fans......

 

Harold Borders comes to my mind.

Tim Couch came to Sheldon Clark and played once. He would probabley be the best ever...................

 

 

All joking aside it would more than likley be Jessie Watts. He did hold the national single game passing yardage record for nearly a decade. So he would get my vote.

 

What about Harley Hammonds? That guy played at SC forever and he was tough as nails and led the Cards to a couple of great seasons.

I think that the greatest may be there right now. We'll have to see how it plays out in his new few years. But I think that Tony Guidugli could surpass his brother Gino and Jarred Lorenzen as the best in Highlands history. Now he does not have the targets like Hamblen and Smith to throw to, but I think there are a few diamonds in the rough that they can use to exploit that unbelievable arm. P.S.-Best rushing QB at HHS has to be Cecil right now, with Chris Gallichio a close second-Man could he run the option!!

You must be kidding right.........J-Lo hands down was and will be the best qb to walk the halls of of HHS for a very long time..Tony has a long....long way to go.

Timmy O was a very good QB for NC during the 75 and 76 football season. Timmy was a three sport athlete which is hard to find these days because of the competition or parity in sports now a days. If a kid wants to be one of the best in his sport he almost has to dedicate himself to one or maybe two sports.

Another QB from Raceland and one that I completely forgot about was Buddy Salyers. I didn't see him play (for once I am too young :eek: :lol: ) but I have bee reminded about him and that he was signed by the Naval Academy as a QB and things kind of fell through when Navy at the same time signed a little - no talent QB by the name of Roger Staughbach :eek: . I don't know whatever happened to that guy but I heard that he had a pretty decent carrer.

 

B. Salyers obviously got robbed :lol: .

If this is the same Michael Holmes i played with in the 80,s then he didn't play QB. I hope you meant someone else!!!!!
