Breathitt Co. - It truly is hard to pick one QB from the last 15 years or so. We are kinda like Quarterback High. I'll pick two........best season and best career.

Best Career - Kyle Moore - at the time he graduated, second only to Couch in nearly every record (10,026 yards, 111 TD's, and he only started 3 years to Couch's 4, 53-4 career record, 1 state title, 4 district titles, 3 regional championships)

Best Single season - Justin Haddix - 2002 - 270-410 for 4,359 yds, 58 TDs (then state record, vs. 7 ints.) 1,130 yds. rushing with 21 touchdowns, and also had 8 or 9 interceptions on defense as a free safety. Runner Up to Mike Bush for Mr. Football of KY. Roy Kidd 2-A player of the year. 2nd Team All state selection

And many more. I go with Lorenzen as the best.

 

I'll add my favorites: "Touchdown" Tommy Roberts from the '75 champs along with my boyhood hero, Gary "bombs away" Schrader '72 champs. Michael Holmes from the 80's was a pretty fair QB also.

How does Brent Curley compare to those boys?

 

 

IMO Third...as in a fractured "third metatarsal" from being mentioned along the likes of Rick Buehner based on leadership, abilities and record but I may be a bit biased and definitely undereducated on the overall history of X football.

 

I never saw Paul Karem play, but I remember being in awe watching the Rick Buehner led Tigers during my teen years-he kept opposing defenses on their heels at all times. While he had outstanding overall abilities, his keen "football intellect" might have been his greatest asset. I venture to say Brent's strengths were similar and the credit for most of his "field" knowledge goes to Coach Jim Wagoner. I personally think Coach Wags return in 04 was extremely instrumental to the Tigers bringing home the hardware.

Pat Sapp, wasn't it? I know he put about 500 yards up against Garrard County one night, although the Lions won the game.

 

Pat Smith was at Carroll early 80's then played at EKU. Very good QB.

At Bellevue...as far as the best career I would say David Kiefer ('92). Then probably Nate Berkeley then Tom Kafel.

Brandon was good, but I give the edge to Duggins.

The best I ever saw @ Newport was Steve Fields in the 70's. He was a one man wrecking crew!! And A kid named Quast @ CovCath in the 70's could air it out with the best of them.

For Campbell County, I would go with Doug Turner. Of course, there are good quarterbacks from the seventies that I didn't see play.

Russell - Brent Muncy, Drew Ramey and Tyler Jones. I couldn't just pick one.

Elizabethtown had a quarterback in the late 60's named Ernie Lewis I believe. He could really throw the ball and I believe went to UK on a full ride.

For Rockcastle County, my vote will have to go to Aaron Anderkin with Chris Parsons, Chris Cornelius and J.D. Bussell following closely behind.

 

I agree only I would take Chris Parsons off the list and replace him with Scott Parkey

Tim Couch came to Sheldon Clark and played once. He would probabley be the best ever...................

 

 

All joking aside it would more than likley be Jessie Watts. He did hold the national single game passing yardage record for nearly a decade. So he would get my vote.

Never got to see him play. Heard he was great though.
