Remember there being a thread about this last year, thought I'd start one and would like everyone to chime in with scores, etc. to give our younger guys some props. So I'll start. Just got home from Raceland and saw 6 teams play. In the first game, East Carter played and defeated Wurtland on a very late touchdown to win it. East has some big kids as well as Wurtland. 2 solid teams. The second game was Lewis Co. versus Rose Hill. The Lions were big, but Rose Hill was huge. Lewis was outmanned defensively, they couldn't gain much yardage at all and Rose Hill scored on passes, dives, sweeps, and looked pretty good. The last game was West Carter versus Raceland. West seemed to be in control for most of the contest. Raceland has some solid kids, but West seemed to have the upper hand on both sides of the ball. I left before this one was over, so not sure of the outcome. Lots of fans in the stands, great to see the support for our kids in the area!

Whats the story on NKY middle school football? Who participates in this? I know NCC has a team.

Summit View has a team and should be noted as being a powerhouse. I believe they won it all last season, and are lookin to repeat.

Why is Silver Grove having a middle school team? They played Bracken the other night with 10 players and 2 of them were girls

If a school wants to have a MS program, I applaud the effort. Provide the student-athletes, with proper instruction, equipment, uniforms and get a coaching staff, then play.

I thought I'd start a thread to talk middle school football and post scores since it doesn't really go on the high school thread.

Meece Middle (Somerset) swept a pair from Southern Middle (Southwestern) tonight at Southern. In the 7th grade game Meece won 42-0. The Jumpers were up 28-0 at the half and the home team ran the clock the entire 2nd half and shortened the 4th quarter to 6 minutes. Meece scored on every possesion except for time expiring at the half and end of the game. They also held Southern to a single first down and overall negative yards.

In the nightcap Meece ended Southern's 12 game win streak (dating back to last season) 22-16 in overtime. Southern led 16-0 at the half but Meece went with a smaller, quicker defensive front in the 2nd half and owned the 2nd half and overtime. The winning touchdown in overtime came on a 4th and 16 in which the Meece receiver outjumped two taller defenders and came down in the corner of the endzone cradling the ball. Southern then lost 6 yards on 3 straight runs and threw an interception on 4th down. Great start to the regular season for the Jumpers!

Young Jumper played well tonight and the 8th grade team showed some toughness coming back after being down 16. On a bad note one of the 7th graders broke his wrist with just a couple of minutes left in a blowout win.

Who are some good middle school football teams in the Frankfort area. I coach middle school football in Harlan, but will be out of town for work on Thursday, September 6th. Are there any games I could attend?

Corbin's 8th grade defeated Whitley Co. 44-14 Saturday after jumping out to a 32-0 lead at the half and putting it in cruise control the second half.

Knox County's middle school beat them by a similar score last week. A few years ago this would have been unheard of. I recall seeing Whitley dress more than 100 kids for a middle school game in years past. What is going on down there?

Grant Middle beat my son's Carroll County Middle School team yesterday,

64-0. My son is in the 6th grade and had 10 yards on 4 carries.

Harlan beat Pineville 12-6 in the conference grid Saturday...plays at Middlesboro Thursday 8/30.
