Coach Hart I believe is an excellent coach and a class person as well.

I have to disagree. I for one seen last year what a great mind and knowledge of football that Coach Hart has. In the first meeting with JC, Grim ran wild running for over 300 yds. In the second meeting, Coach Hart and his assistants put together a game plan to make JC go to someone other than Grimm cause they werent going to let him beat them. Needless to say Grimm had his lowest total of the season with 57 yds and JC had to go to the air to defeat the Tomcats. Coach Hart I believe is an excellent coach and a class person as well.

100% agree. He does an excellent job preparing the kids for games.

That's probably it...I remember being very shocked that Pikeville lost...it was probably the first or second game of the 1990 season, right after Pikeville won three championships in a row...I also remember Raceland had a couple of VERY fast backs...

Shocked??? What about the 1997 Pike County Bowl? I never thought a team could go into Pikeville win by that margin. Of course this is 2007 and Maybe the Panthers will spoil the Tomcats bid at going 1-1.

Good Luck to both teams!

Be good EKU!

And some teams just seem to get the calls at the most opportune times. ;) And they're not always at Putnam! :sssh:

HAHA... you are correct..there have been a few no calls at Francis Field ;) Thanks for pointing that out for me.

I would say that you were implying CAM..but everytime no calls occur against Pburg there the game is already out of reach! HAHA J/K

No, I didn't mention "homefield". I simply stated "some teams just seem to get the calls at the most opportune times". They aren't necessarily limited to their home fields. :thumb: Just pure luck, I guess.

There are missed/bad calls in just about every football game I've ever seen, and I'm sorry you feel that way EKUAlum05, but just "aint" true. IMO Ashland gets their fair share of penalties and sometimes more for being the home team "Ashland". Just wait, Russell and Belfry might just get that tag too. It just takes a couple of calls that go their way in big games.

By the way I can remember several VERY serious clock violations with a particular team that have been washed out though the years and IMO is much more shady than any official's call:sssh:

Wow, this thread saddens me. It has been eye oening, to say the least. But the cost has been some lost respect.

Good luck Panthers and Tomcats. :thumb:

I also ditto the good luck to my alma mater, Pikeville, and to the Tomcats, both of whom we've enjoyed some very heated battles with! :thumb:

And does anyone remember the visit from a group of Pirates during a Pikeville lunchtime in the late '60's? That was quite an event as well, although quite some time ago, and also not related to this thread. Just curious.... Another time, another thread, maybe. :thumb:

What are the chances that Ashland and Ironton will play this season...with both teams looking for their 1st victory? Has that ever happened in that storied rivalry?

Actually, the referree last Friday at Putnam is from Ashland if I'm not mistaken, and I saw not one call that looked shady. Very well officiated game IMO, especially considering that it was the first of the season and I'm sure that the crew had a bit of rust as well. Job well done IMO!

Good Luck to both teams and I hope that both can stay injury fee.

Your right Doc, I thought, as well, there was one questionable call, but all in all the game was very well officiated.

What does last week's officials and whether Ashland will play Ironton have to do with this thread???

How will Pikeville and Ashland match up in the trenches???
