I have no doubt that you're smarter than one who uses GWRBI (a stat that doesn't exist anymore by the way) to guage importance to the offensive contribution. No doubt in my mind.

Okay, I know that you know that much of the value of a baseball player can't be read from a "box score." Like working a 2-out walk in a 10 pitch at-bat to keep an inning alive, an inning that saw Keppy score 2 with a single. Right? I mean you get "value" like that -- right? 1 for 4 with a walk. That is a .400 OBP...not bad, you agree? Happily. I'll bet you lunch / avatar sporting / ice cream sundae that he is. July 26, 200719 yr What a great, GREAT win for the Cubs/Reds. As Rocket said, they Reds can go back to playing winning baseball on Monday. :lol: Hopper showed why he should be in the lineup everyday with his hustle to get to 2nd and then to score that tying run.
July 26, 200719 yr Hopper showed why he should be in the lineup everyday Wow. IMHO, he showed why he is a great 4/5 outfielder. He is really a quite poor defensive outfielder who doesn't walk and doesn't get on nearly enough. That being said, he, like Freel, can add a lot of value in spot duty.

So I do agree with you, with everyone healthy, Hopper is only a 4th outfielder on this team.
