Track the Reds: 2nd Half

My question with Dunn is, do you really think he's around after next year? I have no confidence that this management group is going to spend the necessary money to bring him back. So is it better to get rid of him while you can get something for him, or to not get anything at all?

What exactly are we going to be able to get now? Not a lot in return IMO.

Yes, I (still) believe he is starting in LF on Opening Day 2009 with Josh and Jay.

IMHO, I think there is a better chance he signs a long-term deal by September 1st than the odds of him getting dealt.

If they can resign him long term, there's no need to move him, but if not, isn't anything better than nothing?

Interesting that you throw that out there.

Not really. Won't they receive some compensatory picks should he sign as a UFA?

Where is Griffey?

Where is Griffey?

Not sure, but I do know he won't be making $16.5 million dollars a year, at age 39, playing outfield for the Cincinnati Redlegs.

Junior hits #588. Hope it gets him back and going. Petey Mack makes the right call in letting him play day game after a night game.

I like what Marty just said about this, do you think the Reds will take a chance on picking up Dunn's option in the offseason and hope to trade him then, maybe pay a chunk of his salary in return for a prospect?

Marty made it clear that Dunn will not be in Cincinnati next year.

Dunn is the type of leader this team needs. They are not that bad, with some decent pitching they can contend next year.

I don't think I have ever seen Dunn and leader in the same sentence:creepy:

Then I guess that it settles it. ;)

Better listen to the Cowboy talk about him then. He says he's THE leader.

Griffey drives in another run -- good to see #3 coming out of his brief tail-spin. The Reds could use his bat heated back up.

That explains a lot then:D
