September 21, 200718 yr Good guys win 4-2. Very nice start for Homer, and the pen picked up where he left off...
September 21, 200718 yr Sounds like Homer had a great effort. I watched the first inning and got to see Keppy nonchalant a routine grounder into a hit and a run. Let me say again I don't think there is any chance that he can be your everyday SS heading into next season.

I'll take the net effect of Keppy at SS.

If Norris Hopper is an everyday player on this team next year, or any year, expect more of the same as you've seen this year. Did Gonzalez only get a 1 year deal? Why will he not be your everyday next year? One could argue he's had his best offensive year of his career this year.

SS needs to be a defensive position first and foremost and then an offensive position.

Yes, Hopper is better than Freel. Freel has the advantage of being versatile defensively but offensively, its no contest. 2. AGonz: I'm not down on him although he's had a poor year defensively. Of course, that has been explained away as him being distracted by his son's unforunately situation. I guess he's only distracted while he's in the field and not at bat. ??? 3. If AGonz is the starting SS in 08, I'm OK with that - as long as he has a short leash.

I agree, but Freel needs to go. 3Mil for a versatile backup is silly. I would like to see AG starting at SS next year.
September 21, 200718 yr Did I really just see a Jason Ellison HR??? :scared: Against his former team right? Maybe he had extra incentive? LOL

Still don't think he can for a full season for a team that wants to win. I've said it on BGP 1,383 times and I'll say it again: the outfield in Cincy in 2009 will be Dunn / Hamilton / Bruce. Given Hamilton's body situation (messed up), having a solid 4th OF is a MUST...and Norris appears to be able to do that. Second point, I won't (and neither will the Reds, IMHO).

How many teams start 3 left handed outfielders?

I like the makeup of that OF in 2009. And agree on Norris. And Freel's salary prices him out of the 5th OFer spot.
September 21, 200718 yr How many teams start 3 left handed outfielders? Cleveland and St. Louis are two I can think of off the top of my head.
