September 28, 200718 yr I'll be in my usual perch () on Saturday afternoon and (unfortunately) expect to see the Cubs celebrate on the field that day after clinching the Central. Yuck. Well, at least I'll get to see someone celebrate on the field I guess.
September 29, 200718 yr I know the Reds have had a horrible season, record wise. But, if they play spoiler this weekend to the Cubs, would it be considered successful? I think I'm going with YES!!!So it must suck twice as bad now?
September 29, 200718 yr Author Ok, I'll give it a shot. The Reds need to a huge turn around just to reach the .500 mark. Questions ; 1. Are the last 6 games an aberration? 2. If not do they keep Mackanin? 3. Will there be a fire sale? 4. Can management handle the task of making the right moves to get the Reds ready for next year. 5. Predict final record : I' will go with 75-87 Well with this disaster of a season coming to a welcomed close lets look back at 2nd half. First the answers to the above questions. 1. Yes 2. See 1. Definite no 3. No. We still have the same old same old out there 4. Not this management team 5. Even I was optimistic here. 90 loss season very much a possibility I think this season has been harder to accept just for the fact that a lot of people were thinking this club could compete this year. Now we know this team can't compete. What happens in the off season should be interesting. If management decides to pretty much stay pat, you're looking at another sub.450 season. One other beef (so to say) what happened to dollar dog and Pepsi night? If you're gonna put a dog on the field then at least give me one in the stands also!
September 29, 200718 yr 1 more day and we can shut er down. Reds even play today?? Yeah. The Cubs JV team beat them 4-0 on a one-hitter.
September 29, 200718 yr Author Yeah. The Cubs JV team beat them 4-0 on a one-hitter. Ouch! Ending on an 8 game losing streak would be very fitting for this season.
September 29, 200718 yr Yeah. The Cubs JV team beat them 4-0 on a one-hitter. They didn't have a JV pitcher out there.
September 29, 200718 yr Yeah. The Cubs JV team beat them 4-0 on a one-hitter. Cubs JV beat the Reds Freshman. Yippie...
September 30, 200718 yr Cubs JV beat the Reds Freshman. Yippie... Harang? Hopper? E-5? Phillips? Ross? Keppinger, who has been a starter for the past 2-3 months? OK. Was the ratio of Cubs fans to Reds fans at GABP as bad as it sounded on TV?
September 30, 200718 yr Author So 72-90. 18 games under .500 Brutal season. Some nice individual seasons stats wise, but this group fails miserably as a team.
