September 18, 200718 yr I have heard one speculation as to the reason that Tim Naehring's release involved Jay Bruce. Last year Naehring was singing he praises of Bruce...and has been lobbying for his promotion... Evidently, when the Reds notified Bruce he wouldn't be getting called up Naehring was a staunch objector to Krivsky...thus he was canned. Tim loves Bruce but doesn't think he quite has the arm to play right field...and feels the Hamilton signing may have delayed his arrival in the bigs. One theory as to why he wasn't called up is that because the Reds are going to pick up the option on Dunn for next year and next year is the last year of Griff's contract. So they can keep him in the minors for another year as the Reds roll out, Dunn, Hamilton, and Griffey in the OF with Hopper and Freel as the 4th and 5th OF.

September 18, 200718 yr Author I hadn't even herad that Naehring was fired. When did this happen? A couple of weeks ago there was a spring cleaning in the minors. I belleve at least 8 coaches were let go.

It makes it look like if you have any disagreement with Krivsky, the next thing you know you're looking for a job. I brought that up in an earlier thread. I believe a very tenured scout had issues with a couple of the moves last year and was let go. I can't think of the guys name, but he did publicly fire a couple of parting shots at Krivsky.
