Track the Reds: 2nd Half

Featured Replies

I understand the point about the scouts and if it is not Krivisky's way or the highway concern, but here is my question....what success as the Reds had over the past 10-15 years to think that those guys leaving were doing a good job? Maybe the Reds did need to clean house and get some guys in there that can cultivate players to make the Reds contenders on a yearly basis.

I read an article somewhere a month ago lamenting on the lack of Central American players in the Reds farm system even though that is the hot pipeline of talent these days. Where were these guys the last 10-15 years in signing the top talent from these countries?

The timing is poor. The Reds farm system is at its highest level its been in 20 years in regards to young talent with MLB potential.

I thought that multiple high level scouts from other teams said the Reds have one of the strongest farm systems in baseball...

Makes firing Grant Griesser even more strange. Grant is a first class guy and that is a loss for the Reds.

Knowing what you know, doesn't it seem strange that Bob C. would sign of on some of these firings?

Unless, it is the somewhat common method of lead a "Dead Man Walking" do all of your dirty work and then replace him and allow the new person to re-stock with their own folks. That would make some sense too. I'm sure the Williams / Castellini folks want the job to be as attractive as possible to Walt Jocketty. :p:D

Will Phillips and/or Dunn win the Silver Slugger Award this year?

Can we assume that Brook Jacoby has had some contribution to Dunn's decrease in Ks and his increased AVG?

I trust what WK is doing with the minors. That is why he is where he is today. He was a good scout and I out full confidence in him that he hires guys like him that look at players the same way he does. He has already done a 180 for us in the minors.

George and Jeff were talking about a stat tonight, but I didn't catch the other person besides Dunn, so maybe someone can help me out. Out of the top 25 home run hitters from last year, only Dunn, and this other person are within three home runs of their production from last year.

George just said that Homer is to pitch against the Giants this week. Good, Good.

By the way, Dunn walks 3 more times tonight to bring his season total to 98.

I think Harang better get some CY young votes this year or I am going to be real mad.
