June 11, 200719 yr * Grand Finale has the best Sunday Brunch for 100 miles in any direction, but plan on standing in line....a long line. The food is really good. If you like it, you'll also love The White House off of Union Center. Different owners, same concepts. * I like the Lasagna at Pompilio's, and I go there for lunch a couple times a month because it isn't too crowded and I can read the USA Today in peace. However, my beef with them is their service universally sucks. I hate when a staff acts like you are a nuisance for being there. * I like Walt's more than Montgomery Inn, but I know I'm in the minority. * Knotty Pine is really good. * I wouldn't eat at MIke Fink's if you were buying. The place is filthy. Great views, decent food, but much like the now defunct F & N (a longtime favorite of mine), it is just filthy. * As for things not listed, a couple of places you may like: 1. Ferrari's in Madeira is awesome. 2. Nick and Tom's in Bridgetown is a nice neighborhood eatery that most would like. 3. Quatman's (sp?) in Norwood. Great burgers and bean soup. True greasy spoon, which always make it one of my favorites. 4. I know it's a chain, but I love P.F. Chang's in Norwood. 5. Isadore's off of Hopple has a great italian buffet at lunch. Definition of greasy spoon, so if you wear a tie, you'll be the only one. Great pizza, awesome pastas, wonderful garlic bread, award winning meatballs and a salad bar. Cheap and good. 6. Price Hill Chili. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you won't be disappointed.
June 11, 200719 yr 3. Quatman's (sp?) in Norwood. Great burgers and bean soup. True greasy spoon, which always make it one of my favorites.Boss and I go to Quattman's every Thursday of a golf major! LOVE that place!
June 11, 200719 yr I like Arnold's for their Greek Pasta salad. Great atmosphere, particularly the outdoor area when live music is playing.
June 12, 200719 yr Just ate at Pompillio's last week and had the angle hair with red clam sauce and it was awesome. My friend had the veal marsalla and loved it. Bread was fresh, drinks were strong. Definitely couldn't complain!
September 30, 201015 yr Nicholson's - Best Fish 'n' Chips in town By far. Great stuff...Is it better than Alabama's fish?
September 30, 201015 yr Agreed. I find Pompillio's terribly overrated. A restaurant alot of people don't know about is Knotty Pine. It's a delicious cajon restaurant right off the AA. If you can stand up in there. The last time I was in there walking through the place made you feel like you had a case of the wobbly boots.
September 30, 201015 yr Is it better than Alabama's fish? I had not had Alabama's when I posted that. Now that I have, it's a tough call. Both are excellent, and based on price I'd have to go with Alabama...
June 11, 201214 yr I think I'm gonna head down to Smitty's On Elm for a nice greasy birthday dinner this week. They just opened up a week and a half ago. Anyone been?

Check it out and let us know what you think! The family that owns the place are really great people. I've been interested in how it is, but haven't had a chance to make it there yet.
